Need to purchase 6 x rims and after a bit of research around AULRO i have narrowed it down to two choices at the moment...will be fitting 235/85/16 or 255/85/16's
Dynamic D in Black 16x7 20offset 1400kg.....i assume 20 offset is OK? Dynamic Wheel Co (http://www.dynamicwheelco.com.au/wheel/view/2616/DynamicDBlack)
or
Wolf HD, not sure of the spec? Does anybody know the spec? Downside is it appears I need longer wheel studs. Would all these rims come from the same factory or is the Land Rover rim the preferred? Oh can you buy these in AUS apart from ebay? https://www.lrdirect.com/ANR4583PM-Road-Wheel-Wolf/?gclid=CPSgmtzT3s0CFdgnvQodeA0CcA
or
Is there another option i should look at.........the bride is not interested in disco rims even though that's what the camper has fitted...happy to look at what you have fitted

Gday weeds.
I don't know about Dynamic rims other than I think MR sell them.
I've got tubeless wolf rims. They have been trouble free. They are very heavy duty, overkill IMHO, and quite expensive new. I bought the longer wheel studs as I wasn't happy with wheel nut thread showing. There is some variation on how much wheel stud protrudes from the spindle/hub. I have a 110 county spec front hubs and a rear axle from a Defender. The later model axle showed less nut thread. If you go this option try them first.
I think s1 disco steel rims are the best value option. They are tubeless, very strong, readily available and reasonably priced. I was using them on the Perentie. However with the heavy duty reinforcing on the spring carrier, the tyres would sometime rub. However, it doesn't seem to be a problem on a standard 110 chassis.

We are running Disco 1 steel wheels on Dad's Defender with the 265/75R16 so yes they get the tyre to coil tower rub, this isnt an issue with standard 235's though.
So the options can be D1 steel, D1 alloy, or Defender alloy (Defender alloy OEM new are round $250 each), Defender wolf or 130 steel wheels are 16x6.5 so only 235's can be fitted. As already mentioned, Disco 1 wheels are pretty cheap to pick up.
Due to the tower rub I'm looking for steelies that have about an extra 10mm of further offset, the dynamic "D's that you have linked, as a 16 x 8 look like a good option, I'm guessing round that $90 each?
I had a customers Disco in the other day that had similar wheels to your dynamics but had round holes, they looked more "Land Rover"-ish to me.

Wolf rims are 16x6.5" ET+20.6mm. This is stamped on the nave of the rim along with a bunch of other stuff - if it's not there, it's not a genuine Wolf rim. There are plenty of copies around.
Longer studs are up to you, I've run mine on 300tdi hubs where the studs are about level with the nut and early hubs where there is a turn or two on the nut showing. From memory, the "military spec" long stud people recommend leaves about 5 turns visible on the stud, it's a long unit - also hard to find and expensive.
I had my Wolf rims galvanised years ago and I've never wanted for another wheel type, and probably never will.

Yeah there is a dynamic with round holes @1200 which I'm leaning towards.
Both come in a +20 which will move your tyres outbound.

I've been running Dynamics in the same size as you've listed below weeds. No issues but a couple of things to consider;
- they centre on the studs not the hub, which isn't an issue but some of Nugget's hub rings make fitting them right a lot easier
- I have heard that the land rover wheel nuts aren't a great match for the dynamic wheels. I haven't had issues but you can buy wheel nuts to suit dynamic wheels from dynamic.
I've used both the 1200kg and the 1400kg on some pretty crap roads without issue, in fact I thought the 1400s weren't available anymore but that might have been a white lie from a salesman.
No issues with balancing them and haven't come across any out of round or NQR rims yet (ran them on my previous 4X4 as well).
The other option is flipped Disco rims. I've got a set of those in the shed. Centre is flipped so they fit the Defender without tyres rubbing but may not be needed in your case with the skinnies. I'm running 265/75/16

I have another option for you.
I run 16x7 King Wheels (black steel) which have a zero offset. I have 265/75R16 and nil issues.
I am also considering 255/85R16 for next tyres when my current Hankooks eventually die. Others with this same wheel offset report nil issues with that tyre size.
They are not round holes, but look good anyway IMHO. I replaced the standard wheel nuts from the factory boost alloys with black ones which my tyre place said they sourced from Land Rover.
They fit great and I've not had any issues with almost 40,000 km travelled.
Cheers,

Probably twice as much steel. They don't bend.

Imagine what a standard steel rim would look like, even hitting a lesser rock. HD rims are worth the money IMO.

I'm on my second set of dynamic 20mm offsets , with round holes . I run 265x75x16 tyres , they just keep inside the guards , give a better turning circle , and of course a wider track . I really like them . Plus they look goog as well !!.. Jim

That was a big hit, stuffed the back tyre too but that rim was fine.

Weeds, for what its worth Dynamic rims sit on the studs, not the hub. Wolf actually don't sit either on the hub but they have a minimal clearance in-between the hub and rim. What that all means perhaps the engineers can answer, but it must mean something and I think NSW and perhaps Qld by the book say dynamic are illegal or need spacers in-between hubs and rims.
How about second hand, you have time, there must be enough crashed puma 130's and 110 utes around these days. A wolf with a 255 weighs in at 40kg. Where as a boost alloy is around 35kg. Not much but weight is the enemy of a tourer, and it all starts with being tuff on weight to start with. I wouldn't think a boost alloy is a significantly lesser rim than a wolf. The wolfs were made for the UK army in overloaded landies to go smashing across virgin terrain. Maximum sidewall motion strength and weigh loading. Something that very few of us do in reality.

Signed up for dynamics today.......
Had a chat to nugget about the spacer things......whether you have OEM rims or aftermarket neither sit on the hub......well that my thoughts.

Hi Weeds,
I've been running Dynamic 16 x 8 (D holes) with zero offset matched with 285/75 16 MTZ's for years now on my 130 and am really enjoying the ride.
Dynamic rims are very hardy and I've never had an issue with ill-fitting or loose wheel nuts or flaking power coating. I don't use Nugget's spacers. Don't see the need.
Inside.....were you able to repair the dented rim with a few hits from an FBH?

I've just received my set of Dynamic 16x7 sunraysia style rims with +20mm offset and 1400kg load rating. After lots of research and feedback from AULRO members, I chose to go with Bridgestone Dueler 661 238/85 x16 tyres which also have a 1400kg rating. Wayne's (Nugget) centric rings make for a snug fit onto the hubs.
I was told by the tyre dealer that Dynamic recommended their own wheel nuts for these wheels. When I checked them, they matched the countersink angle of the stud holes - approximately 60?. Here was a dilemma for me because I had already bought the standard LR wheel nuts which are for a 45? countersink angle. These have only a narrow contact patch on the rim and I have had to torque up the nuts a couple of times. Tomorrow the wheels are going under a large radial drill to have their stud holes countersunk to match the LR wheel nuts.
After having this wheel and tyre set, along with new Koni Raid 90 shocks all round for only a couple of days, I can honestly say that the transformation to the Defender's ride has been impressive!
