Hey guys,
The AULRO platform has helped get through some some recent problems with my Defender and saved me lots of $$. So I'm hoping to get some more words of wisdom with another problem im having at the moment.
2002 Defender 130 with 235Kms.
I have noticed a distinct loss of power in my TD5 mainly from the Turbo boost. It seems there is general drive power but is lacking the boost from the turbo charger. I have only owned the truck for about 9 months. I know it has been "chipped" and also has a large exhaust.
the loss is most noticeable in 1st and 2nd gear, I can hear the turbo sucking and spooling but fails to deliver the boost. It feels like the boost only comes into play once get to higher revs in 4th-5th gear.
1st gear almost "revs out" as in the acceleration stops at a certain point, like its being limited? where as the turbo used to kick in pretty early in each gear and power right through gears.
I have checked the waste gate on the turbo, and although it is tough to move with a set of grips attached it does move. I applied liberal WD40 too see if this was the problem but it failed to fix it.
I hope I have explained enough? any help at all would be great. I'm hoping to try look at a few things myself before taking it too local mechanic.
cheers,
Jarrod.
