Don't you have to tell Android that you are using the USB connection as a Drive and not for CHARGING? I thought a prompt popped up when connecting the device to a USB port?
Sent from my SM-T810 using AULRO mobile app

Yep I have the phone using Bluetooth and have a music player currently on the USB. I am trying to replace that so I can leave a 7 inch 3g tablet connected permanently that I have spare. It gives heaps more options including have DAB radio and Android auto etc through the better connection USB provides over Bluetooth.
Android 6 has 4 connection options. I have tried all 4 but the system doesn't recognise any of them connected to.the USB port.

Let me know how you go with that.I got a "free" 7" samsung tablet from Telstra recently when I upgraded my plan.I only accepted because the tablet would be good for nav music etc.I have a bigger Samsung tablet for when Im away, its too big to use in the D4 for a second screen.

Any luck Mike?.... i seem to have drawn a blank despite hours of searching
(Prospect 2148.... i grew up in that neck of the woods... many many moons ago..... Used to go to Scouts in the hall next to the old deserted Church on the hill next to the Great Western highway) then later ride bikes across the markets gardens to the Village Grand Prix to waste all my money in arcade machines!!)

Sorry mate,
Exactly the same results as you. Car did not detect anything on USB. The phone was convinced it was connected to a PC and wanted to download synchronisation software.
Unfortunately I don't have an Aux cable at home so I couldn't try that. I think I have one at work, but that will have to wait for a few weeks. Some of the guys at work may have some ideas as well. In the meantime I will do some googling over the next couple of days.
I think Prospect may have changed a bit since you were a kid. I've been here for about 18 years and the market gardens were long gone when I arrived. In fact the market gardens you talk about would be very close (possibly underneath) where I live. Drive-in movie theatre on Flushcombe Road still going and has been completely renovated.
Cheers

Thanks Mike,
The aux cable works through the headphone jack using the USB to power the device. Not a great solution, but thanks for trying.
Good to see the drive in theatre in still in operation. It used to be a twin screen arrangement with the shop in the middle for many a Friday or Saturday night jaunt. That would have been in the early 80's. We used to sneak up the dirt track in my Tojo FJ45 and watch the movies for nix with someone on the inside putting there stereo on loud so we could here it when it used to connect to the radio in your car ! By the time the sound arrived it was out of sync with the movie! :D When i got a job and upgraded to a Hilux we used to have nights out with the Hilux 4wd Club there. We would all reverse in and use bean bags as seats in the trays, great memories.
There was even a few years of the Friday night dusk till dawn X Rated movie marathon believe it or not. The locals protested and got them stopped eventually.
