I took train mad #2 son down to the Goulburn Roundhouse for a visit last week. He's quite the regular at Thirlmere so I thought Goulburn would be a good trip for him.

There's an awful lot of early diesels sitting around, most privately owned & kept at the museum for storage purposes (as are around 75% of the exhibits), which is a change from the steam orientated Trainworks.

They're having a big display of the diesels in October, concentrating on the rounded type, hence the Streamliner name. There must be around 20 or so sitting out of the main display area so I assume they'll be moved around to somewhere more suited for a display.

What surprised me is that there's even more of these old diesels sitting in the operational CF Railway workshop yard next door, either in use or awaiting repair/scrap.

Here's the info on the display coming up in October:

Dad was a mechanical engineer at AE Goodwin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A._E._Goodwin where they made the Goodwin-Alco 44 (round nose) and 48 Class locos at Forester Rd., St Marys in the Sixties.

He had certification to drive them in the yard and I "travelled" in them a few times. Goodwins had an automatic model railway set up in their office block foyer. I could look at it for ages as the trains went around and stopped to let others pass.
