Hi All
I have a 2.4 130. Under heavy-ish acceleration, partic in 5th and 6th, it blows enough black smoke that l can see it from the cab. Also, my alloy tray above the exhaust has evidence of the smoke too. The thing goes pretty well to - l think it may have a 'tune' of some kind.
To my knowledge, black smoke generally indicates over-fuelling.
Would my best bet to get the factory setting re-inputted??
TIA,
Michael

I just had a black smoke issue, checked all the intercooler hoses, they were fine but replaced them with silicon anyway, in the end I had replaced/cleaned everything I could think of apart from the intercooler, had a good look at it and it had a split, took it out put the original in and black smoke is gone..
All my research into it led me to hoses and intercooler for the turbo causing black smoke, and a couple of sensors. I have a remap on mine but it smoked even with the original map on.

Thanks Pat
I will have a good look over it before l send it into LR to (in their words) "recalibrate the injectors and analyze the ICU". It is certainly not down on power at all.
But I can see that a leak in hoses could well be the cause...
Thanks
Michael

Mike I have a tune, and if i get stuck into it it will blow black smoke. It's not much but you can see it in the left rear view mirror out the exhaust. It's usually from about 3000rpm onwards I think. The car runs fine and has a larger intercooler, but everything else is stock. I see it as just a bit of over fueling and nothing more. When I had a Jap car with a chip it poured black smoke out the back when you kicked it in the guts. I gave noticed RR and Disco 3 and 4's do the same on good acceleration. Just a diesel thing really.

Hi
I guess l just want to ensure it is not going to implode or something on me!
I will pour over the hoses. I have another bloke up the road (AULRO member) who has a 2.4TDCi also....l am going to set up a play date l think.
Thanks
Michael
