I think I've found a set of Rhino roof bars that might fit our fender on ebay. The widht and height look ok. The question is, will bars that fit the gutter channel of a disco fit a fender? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

90% probability yes. There is usually enough tolerance on roof rack mounts to suit any gutter profile from Thule experience.
If the price is right and all the other dimensions are as well ....go for it. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Inc is measuring his guters for me now (thanks chat room).
The defender roof width is 1425 or 1460 inc channel. It's height is 200mm. The channel lip is 6mm, and total height 14mm. The channel width is 18mm.
The guy selling says the racks are 280mm and 1500mm.

On further investigation I think they are this model here.
http://www.rhinorack.com/srchMake2.asp?Pro...=24&ModelID=394 (http://www.rhinorack.com/srchMake2.asp?ProductID=RL280S4%2DRB1500+%28B%29&MakeID=24&ModelID=394)
And this is the recommended defender model.
http://www.rhinorack.com/srchMake2.asp?Pro...=24&ModelID=393 (http://www.rhinorack.com/srchMake2.asp?ProductID=RL210DS8%2DRB1500+%28B%29&MakeID=24&ModelID=393)
So they are exactly the same only higher.

You would have noticed the Defender models on the Rhino site say "Specially modified for this model". The mod is a scallop cut from the side of the mount to accomodate the roof curve, not sure if it is the same for the Disco model. Wouldn't take much to "modify" once you have them though.

I transferred the roof rack from my Disco to the Defender. The only adjustment was in the width.

Thank you all for your help style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif (esp inc). I have them in my posession now and they are good. they fit perfectly in the gutter. They are a little high, but I don't think you'd really notice style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

I transferred my Rhino aero bars from the Disco to Rangie, exactly the same only high on the Rangie. Then to the Defender on the fender there is a couple of mm difference but they will fit even without relocating the mounts on one side. They will sit high over the roof but I find this a bonus, allows me to put roof mounted spotties right at the front without the canoes hitting them when loaded on the racks. Also will allow for me to put up a length of stormwater pipe blow the bars for rods etc and not interfere with the load space on the rack. Just beware due to the poor allignment of the door panels on the Defender they may hit the mount. I am sure if most Fender owners went out and measured the gaps on the doors top and bottom they would be amazed how much difference there is with no way of adjusting.

Only thing I didn't allow for was that I can't open the doors... so they have to go over the back of the car style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif
