Does anybody have any comments regarding the current gearboxes for auction in Minto? A few look new/recond. If I were to buy of course I then have the problem of getting it back home.....

If it was me, I'd work on the fact that they are stuffed and need to be rebuilt.
If you end up with a good one, you will then be in front, depending on what you pay.
My thoughts are that Perenties are still in service, and will be for some time yet - why would they sell perfectly good trannies when they might need them.
Just my thoughts.

Yes, that's what I thought. But doesn't explain why someone has tried to make them look new.

If they look shiny and new they will sell for more. Look on the bright side. If you buy one and pull it down, then you wont get your hands dirty😁

Incidentally there must be some sort of an exercise happening. Plenty of unimogs, trucks and what I presume are G Wagons here and Port Augusta.. Darker brown/black camouflage paint.....
