Has anybody any experience with this kit?

5 SPD Isuzu Transmission Adaptor Landrover 4BD1 110 Defender Perentie Discovery | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5-spd-Isuzu-Transmission-Adaptor-Landrover-4BD1-110-Defender-Perentie-Discovery-/252456913095?hash=item3ac79ac8c7:g:JFgAAOSwGXtXhAV E)

Im leaning towards buying a gearbox cheap off the auctions and rebuilding it when I get the inclination, then swapping....

Looks like one of Sheldons new kits. If so, there's a looong thread in the Isuzu section that has the development history in it.
Look for "MSA to LT230"

Yep, it's the new kit he is doing with the upgraded TC input shaft. If I ever save enough Sheckles I'd love to get one...

Ahhh now here is the problem with having basically two Isuzu sections? Anyway they can be under the same section? Mods

While I see your point, the Military stuff should be kept seperate IMO. Yes, the engine and box is the same, but many other bits aren't. I think the Military specific questions that get asked here would get lost if these forums were merged.

Just my thoughts - I'm happy to escalate this and see what the other Mods and Admins think - I'll do that now and get back to you with the outcome.

Like you Gav I have 2 lines of thought on this. There is the civvy Isuzu version where the engine/gearbox is the basic same item as the military one except for the TRB intermediate shaft and then there is this section where many of the body/interior sections are a little different and have different part numbers so my opinion is they should stay separate even tho they are similar vehicles.

That's true, but a lot of tail chasing goes on with info on the isuzu's, I'm not saying merge the two, but how much info is on the msa conversions, and johnoooh had no idea about it? Its just a bit annoying.

No I had no idea about it but it's easy for someone to direct me towards it..

I just did an eBay search for 'perentie' and this popped up which got me wondering. I've no idea about the other civilian LRs which use a 4bd1..

Just use a sticky thread with a link to the other civvy thread.

IMO if anything is done it needs to be more general than that. There's plenty of other info in the Isuzu section that I think may be of interest to Perentie owners.
Just like there is info in the Defender/110 etc section that applies to Isuzu landies, and vice versa.

What would be useful from my perspective is if threads could be tagged and appear in multiple sections, but that would be a major culture change.
It would also address the issue of "which section should I raise it in"
