G'day,
I'll be out of the country for 6 months, car will be stored in a garage and not driven. Any tips on preparation i can do prior to closing the door.
Cheers,
Ty

Idealy if you can leave it in storage with someone you can trust get them to take it for a short run weekly, keep it washed and have it serviced before you get back. If not out it up on blocks, remove the wheels, back off the handbrake brake and even remove the brake pads as this will stop them binding. If you want power for the car alarm, buy a trickle charger/de charger that can be hooked up to your battery and keep it charged while you are away (not a normal battery charger) if you are not worried about the alarm disconnect the battery. I would also fill the engine rigt up with cheap oil for storage, but you must remember to drain out when you get back. I would also drain and flush the cooling system. I would also put some fragrant incense sticks or air fresheners that you like to stop the stale smell. I would then cover with a car cover or similar.
When you get bake I would do a complete service even though its been no where I would replace the oil and filters, coolant, gear, diff oil, drain the brake and clutch fluids and replace.
On the other hand you could just park it and do nothing. May require battery charging when you get back.

I stored my old series II for two years the only things i did was change brake fluid and did a engine service the diffs and trans I left no river crossings for awhile and oil was only 6 months old left fuel tank empty.
2 yrs later added 20 ltrs of petrol and new battery and away I went.
for six months storage go for a long drive before parking it up and find some way to trickle charge the battery.
