Pleased to report that the car performed perfectly through 2,300-odd km up through the middle of WA - Perth-Meekatharra-Nullagine-Marble Bar-Broome, via Shay Gap and the Boreline Road. Lovely camping around Coongan Pools near Marble Bar, and it was a joy to travel at good speed on well-maintained gravel roads for a few hundred km.

Got to Broome and the smart key was warning of low battery. Bought a new one, and as the manual says, installed it with the plus side up. Wrong. Shorted instantly. Turns out the manual is wrong. Needs to be installed with the plus side DOWN. Minor hour of stress while we couldn't start the car, close the windows or lock the thing. You Tube. Wonderful thing. Sorted with another new battery.

Great to hear - and thanks for the video Greg! I assume you might run into Gordon and co a they head to Broome via Tanami at present. What did you decide re roof rack - is that just two cross bars you are using?
Cheers and have fun - very jealous watching!

Haven't seen Gordon yet Chris. Yeah just a couple of roof bars, that's all we needed, everything else is in the trailer. Broome is perfect.... 30 every day, no wind. Heading up Dampier Peninsula on Sunday. Mostly sealed, but the remaining 80km of dirt is apparently atrocious.
