Has anyone had experience these campers.
Patriot Campers: The Ultimate Off Road Camper Trailers. - Patriot Campers (http://www.patriotcampers.com.au)
They look great, tough and well thought out.
Set up for real off road stuff.
I'd like to hear if anyone owns one or used on.
Cheers

From what I've read about them, they are very tough, you will need to rob a bank though.

I'm not sure they are any tougher than its competitors.........the best thing is it's departure angle.

We had a good look over them and they are reasonably well thought out ..... There are other brands with similar design.

We reckoned they would be better with a full length RRT like an Aussie Traveller.

I ended up building a HCPU camper.......not quite the standard of Patriot.

the biggest advantage of this camper is the weight, especially when you compare it with the typical hard floor or fold forward camper. I have looked at these in detail and my good friend has one, picked it up last week. They are well made and well thoughout with improvements made every year.

Dont expect to get one quickly, i think the current wait time is about 5 months!!!

I found another called Mission Camper online last night.
Similar, but not as refined.
Only 400kg empty, 790 kgs loaded. Extremely light.
The Patriot looks like its been a huge success.
I'm going to check out 4WD Camping expo at Melbourne Showgrounds next month.
Around $40K, which is up there but there are more expensive one's on market.

heres my version of a patriot camper. tough and reliable . been used and abused by the australian defence force since 1966 and its still going strong (trailer).

it has an esky inside along with a gas cooker, table and chairs and instead of slide out everything, its lift out . nothing to break or colapse. theres even room for chainsaw, food, spare parts, etc

the roof camper takes around 10 seconds to wind up and whilst you cant stand in it, its great for laying down. keeps bedding dry and it comes fully equipped with a battery operated torch. ( no leads to get tangled in whilst staggering around looking for midnight snacks )

how much is this little gem worth ?

NOT $40.000

NOT $10.ooo

all up including the brand new roof pod and the batteries for the torch.....$under $3000.

im happy with my version. and i have enough change to keep me in batteries for years to come :)

The Patriot are nice but very overpriced IMO.
It's the kind of trailer I'm after, based on the expedition trailers in the US.
Not interested in the tent option
Heaps on expedition portal.
Drifta has started making tough trailers check out their Dot series.
My mate picks up his Dot 7 equip next month.

I've studied the Patriot at camping shows. Well made, lots of good gear and light to tow but the bed is a bit short for tall people. Price is comparable to other premium campers.

Patriot are very well made with laser cutting and all that, but I, in my demo, found that they would be difficult to live with.

Check out the All 4 Adventure guys....they take them to more places then most here would..

Have a look at Gumtree in South Africa. www,gumtree.co.za and you'll often find them quite cheap.

Find a couple of mates that also want one, go and buy 4 ex-hire or 2nd hand ones and ship them back in a container. Sell the 4th one here to cover your costs.

I was thinking of doing that, but got a Track Trailer with the MC2 suspension locally, for as much as I like the features and style of the Patriot, I think the Track has a far superior suspension design.

Hi
Which model Track Trailer did you go for.
T Van or Mate?
T Van very cool.
We sleep in swags and cook on open fire.
All camper trailers try and do too much.
I'l currently designing my own to suit our needs.

No, I got a 1999 Eagle. I couldn't afford the new stuff.

I swapped the 6 Stud Land Cruiser drums for Defender PCD Drums to run on parallel axle stubs. The Land Rover hubs Track Trailer originally supplied came on the thinner tapered stub axles and they had some failures, so Track no longer supply drums to suit Land Rover. However it ended up cheaper getting Alko to make them, than it would have been to buy Alko ones from Track (if they'd bothered to get them made).

We towed it back from SA, but haven't used it yet. It was very well kept, the extra annexe room seems like it was never used. I might put some LED tail lights on it and a WiFi Reverse camera, so that no matter which car tows it, you can use a phone or tablet to see behind the trailer.

It's got a hard lid, which the previous owner had hinged with gas struts to make opening it a one man job. I'm going to glue a rubber mat to the top and run some cargo rails with the adjustable ring tie downs either side, so I can carry a kayak or bikes on top, without adding bulk or weight.

We have the Mission. Took it on a lap of Aus last year, lived in it for 11mths. Great trailer, took it through the Kimberley, all round the centre and Cape Yorke (OTT). Would absolutely recommend it.

Attended Melbourne 4x4 show today and checked out Patriot Camper.
Very impressed.
Looking at others at the show, it is extremely well made and thought out.

It appears to be similar to the Drifta camper, but I've only seen pictures of the Drifta so I'm not sure.

After looking around the Drifta website I'm actually quite impressed. For a base price of $21-22,000, plus options as required, they seem like a good thing. I watched a couple of videos and they seem very practical and durable.
