Hi one and all , interesting week . The clutch on my td5 was not right , only short peddle before it started to take up . It's been like this since last year , because I brought a new Defender . The td5 has just sat there waiting for me to get motivated . We this week it happened . I had brought a new Duel mass fly wheel , plus clutch and pressure plate including thrust bearing and spigot bearing last year . So out with the seats centre box , floor . Underneath cross member , Exhaust down pipe , them all the other nuts and bolts that needed to get the gearbox out . What we found was the clutch and flywheel were in a lot better condition than expected . Getting the old spigot bearing out was a pain , but we got there , Next fit the new flywheel and clutch . Then go to replace the trust bearing , It was chewed out at the top ! This could well have been the problem all along . haha . So now it has a nice new clutch ect . Put all back together took for a test drive , no brakes ? What the heck , surely the booster couldn't have let go No ? I had vacuum ? What else could it be ? My cousin said I can hear air somewhere ? I couldn't hear it, nor could my mechanic uncle . It turned out to be a small vacuum pipe with an elbow that had been knocked of the main vacuum line , You couldn't see the bloody thing . Pushed it back on panic over , and big smiles all round ! I'm sure the people that design them never have to work on then !!.. Jim :D
