Question to the gallery,

I need a new battery for my Defender. It currently has a 1000 CCA battery in it. I've tried to do the on line thing and spoken to the dealers. And I just get the feeling that they just want to sell me what's on the shelf, not necessarily what I want or need.
The one I have is an RACV battery that the old owner had fitted and it's given years of good service so I'm happy to stay at 1000 amps if possible but a search doesn't give many options at that CCA.
What are others running? Thoughts on the Optima range would be good although I know they aren't in the 1000CCA range.

1000CCA is more than heaps! You'll do just as well with less CCA also.

I'd recommend the Optima, they last a long long time and are not priced stupidly if bought online and shipped.

I use the biggest Blue Top in my Disco.

I'm sure there are lots of good options out there. I've had good service from (2 now) CAT batteries bought from the local CAT dealer. They happily sell you stuff over the counter. Good price, good warranty, quality product. Part no 175-4370 cost about $190
