Could anyone tell me what the difference is likely to be between the 3 filters ( if the links happened ) , i guess BMW and others would also suit .

One says genuine , would you think it means genuine GM , LR , BMW and how would one know , would the filter be marked in some way ?

From $ 11 to almost $100 is quite a variation .

I`d probably have trouble using the $11 one but unless there`s a way of identifying what`s what who`s to know if the almost $100 one is an $11 in disguise .

Thanks

I'd be going for the $50 or $100 jobby. They both look the same.

Rhys is the bloke that services my transmission ( as well as others on aulro that uses his services).

He is the owner of Furious.

Ring him and ask which one is better or are they the same.

Yeah, I'd call Rhys - he is the go to guy for everything on these transmissions. Can't recall what I paid last time but it wasn't the cheaper end of the scale.

The first link is the one to buy. It's from Rhys and he's the expert.

G`day , thanks for the replies .

It seems there are 3 filter types , from a GM doc .

BMW car 99 to 02 .

BMW X5 and RR .

BMW car, Caddy from 03 , it seems the Commodore may belong to this group .

Anyhow i found another link that explains it a bit more , hope it works .

You need to take into account that i found this on the internet so self checking would apply but it seems feasible .

I guess the next thing is to work out what D and E are for , relating to the RR one , and note the seal difference between commodore and RR and also the support difference .

G`day Gav , do you remember the type/brand of oil used in the last service ?

The Rhys site says Valvoline Maxlife ATF is what they sell for the RR .

They recommend Valvoline Dextron 6 or Maxilife ATF for the Commodore .

Can't remember off the top of my head but it wasn't the Dextron 6, it was something specific to the RR transmission - it was expensive... - I'll see if I can find something in my portal that is my desk.

D is the input shroud , don`t know what E is .

From what i can find the original fit filter should have Filtrans on it , made by a German co , IBS Filtrans , the filtrans # is 806072 .

Bryco - 54800L

AOM - 5691

Alto - 156944

G`day Gav ,

other than muti vehicle synthetic ( which seems the latest type and may still be 6 ) , dextron 6 being full syn and back compatable , seem the recommended type for Holden and BMW the RR doesn`t get listed other than fill for life see a dealer , that i can find .

Actually i did find supercheap have Nulon listed for the L322 GM but nowhere else could i find anything .

Have you been able to find anything on the oil and do you think it is synthetic ?
