I am changing my clutch out on saturday in my 300tdi defender.
If anyone local is interested to see how it is done they are welcome to drop by.
We won't need any assistance as such.

I will be removing the engine to change the clutch.

Pm if interested.

Cheers
Tony

Oh oh dam..... you are so far away I just wouldnt get there in time :p :p :p :p

Sorry for being a *****, I could just think of nothing worse than watching someone else do a clutch on an old Defender :p :p

---
Just out of interest and nothing more, why doing the engine out over the gearbox out?

Regards
Daz

Engine out I find is easier on the body.
I have done clutch replacements removing the gearbox and it is not fun.
engine crane to lift engine vs human crane to lift gearbox.

We (myself and 1 offsider) have removed and reinstalled a 300 tdi in less than 4 hrs all because of that stupid clutch push rod had come adrift from the clutch fork.

Cheers,
Tony

I have done similar, though for me it was my offsider who took the flogged throw out bearing out, knocking the plastic part into the clutch springs. We put it all back together and wondered why it wouldnt change gear!

We also took the engine out. Might have taken longer than 4 hours tho...

Cheers

Clutch change completed sucessfully.
As to why it slipped is unknown.
Everything appeared to be in serviceable condition.
Also replaced 2x engine mounts.

No rest for the weary.
Todays mission is to swap out injection pump and injectors on another defender.
Should be here soon.I hope.
