Ok My D2 has taken down CV's all its life. At 290,000k I got another one, driver side, but this time I went a very low k (40-60k) second hand jobby to keep costs down. This one was quiet and in 10,000k has become clicky. Driver's side go first in my experience.

I dont want to go to the expense of Ashcroft so any suggestions. Just go new OEM?

I think part of the problem is that I run 31 inch tyres and its a manual V8 - so its getting a harder time. I have had the 4.6 in for the last 10,000k also so even more torque going through the CV and half shaft.

Cheers

I did a quick count at Cooma and the ratio was ten to one,, V8's to rattlers, and I would guestimate the same for manuals of those V8's,,
so one in every hundred?
then add in the 4.6 and tall tyres and the odds start to get real long,,

are the RR CV's the same?

Aside from the annoying noise, what is the detriment to driving on a clunky CV?

I wonder if my axle housing is out of alignment...will measure. Weeds I have done 3 in 290k...this would make it 4 in 300k...

and yes, kaboom is the worst result,, cage breaks.
The clicking is the cage crack opening and clicking shut.
