Dad's Disco 4. Noticed a steering wheel vibration under braking and a slight knock over sharp bumps which have appeared after a desert trip.
The symptoms:
- Slight knock over sharp bumps, happens regardless if right or left wheel goes over the bump
- Steering vibrates under gentle braking only
- No vibration below 40km/h, I think it's worst around 60km/h.
- Vibration does not occur under hard braking
- The braking doesn't pull in any particular direction
- The braking itself isn't jolty and the fact that it doesn't vibrate under 40km/h, does that rule out disc/brake issues?
- Jacked the car up, no looseness at the front wheels so doesn't seem to be the bearings.
Will be taking it to a garage but if the brains trust has some tips that should make it easier.

Cheers chaps, sounds like a consensus.
55000km on it so far, mostly bitumen, probably around 6000km on dirt.

Put it in extended height and try it,speedhumps at the shops will make mine clunk. It doesnt in normal or lowered height.mine is a MY14,which is yours???

LandyAndy: MY12, and I haven't tried it in raised mode but it will do it in normal and lowered.
How much have others had it done for?
Just got a quote from Pacific Motors Pymble saying that he did it for a Disco 3 and found that it was going to be cheaper for the customer if he replaced the whole arms rather than cop the extra labour for extracting and installing the bushes. $1500 ($1100 parts), but don't recall whether that was both sides, just lower, or upper and lower.
Speaking of, can someone enlighten me on terminology for the Disco 4 suspension. As I understand it it's double wishbone suspension and the lower control arm is the lower wishbone, and the upper control arm is the upper wishbone? Or have I got it all wrong?
