back in 2014 I paid 112 dollars it came with the stencil and all the fittings never had any issues apart from the stencil some of the holes where a out by an inch
so I modyified the stencil
it still looks new to this day

I have had a $100+ one for 3 years and round OZ with no problems.
The stencil was a little bit out but nothing a round file couldn't fix.
Mine Has "Discovery " on the side

I ordered the ebay snorkel with Discovery 2 on it but when it arrived it was blank.
Emailed him and he apologized and said he didn't check them when they came in and assumed they were all the same...
Oh well it's on and works fine.

Do you think there's a huge benefit fitting the Safari branded to the ebay versions?
I guess if you ensure tight sealed fitting then should be all okay?

I know a bloke with a cheapo one which he found to be porous up near the bend.
I don't think mine is or that it is much of a problem, as a coat of paint would fix it and if you were stopped in water over the guard you have bigger problems than a bit of water oozing in.

I fitted a safari snorkel a couple of years back cost me $150. I have never used it yet. It must be a NSW and QLD thing, a must with all the floods they have there. Not really needed in Victoria.;););););)

I bought a cheap $90 eBay snorkel just to see, I was not impressed and bought a safari instead.
Mould was crap, intake hole was heaps smaller than ARB, Instructions were non existent, template was way off both the snorkel body and guard, adaptor in the gaurd was not even compete and who knows how long the plastic would last.
Sure you could have made it work but I'd rather pay for quality and didn't want to take chances with cheap stuff.
Either way you go make sure you seal every join thoroughly and also plug all the holes in the airbox, have seen a few cars with snorkels have a drink in the Vic high country due to unsealed snorkels.

soap on a rope my friend, soap on a rope.
If I can get my hands on a 2nd hand Safari snorkel i'll just have to find a template.
If not, do I dare ask ARB for a quote on new unit fitted.:(:(

I fitted my snorkel for one reason and it wasn't for water
in the summer our beaches are like powder and I noticed not just on my disco but also other peoples turbo vehicles the air filter use to get choked with fine sand
due to the fact when a turbo is on boost its like a vacuum cleaner inside the wheel arch area

Yes I have posted before how I met a bloke at Mt Elizabeth Station on the GRR who walked over to me with a completely orange clogged mess of a filter from a D2 wanting to know where nearby he could get a new one.
I told him Perth.

Wouldn't worry Chris , he would just don the scuba gear, and get some aircon ducting to extend the snorkel head, tie the other end to his sand flag . He's an ideas man like the bloke in the 'Castle';):D:D:D:D:D:D
