What DYI diagnostic tools work on these diesels?
I see hawkeye doesn't support it,only V8s 06-09
Nanocom only cover the later 2010-2013 L322s.
I think a vehicle complex as these need the owner to have something.

My Hawkeye covers it. It's had the V7 upgrade.
Not as versatile as the ID tool though.

Yep, the IID tool from Gap Diagnostics is the go - does everything you'll need to do and pretty much a must have to keep in the glovebox.

I bought one of these and couldn't be happier for the small price I paid, and its saved me heaps on diagnosing some very strange faults with the TD6, to replace the very basic allcoms tool I had.
One of the reasons I came across this unit was it could show in real time the RPM on the input and output shafts of the transmission, as well as temperature of the box and what I believe to be a line pressure reading, but is not confirmed and the slightly dodgy software coder behind the device wouldn't confirm either, BUT this in itself was invaluable to me.
I haven't used an IID, and am not fond of reading faults through the cluster as I haven't fixed the bad pixels on mine yet ;)

The IID BT connects wirelessly to a device like an iPhone. All the live readings, diagnostic and resetting is done/displayed on the iPhone.

Correct, it comes with a USB cable to connect the laptop (Windows or Mac) to the IID tool. I assume the non BT version is the same.

Correct, however, the controller software is only available for PC. The tool firmware can be updated using a PC or a Mac.
The mobile Apps are much more convenient than the PC software which only replicates the integrated interface (cruise control buttons and instrument cluster screen)
