I have a similar problem, I found this website in the UK
http://www.remotekey.co.uk

To resynchronise the handset, operate either button of the handset at least 5 times in quick succession ( in close proximity to the vehicle) or insert the key (with handset attached) into the starter switch and turn to poition 11.
If this doesn't work
Did you put the new battery in correctly (is the correct battery in)
Is the new battery live or dead (not as silly as it sounds)
If all these get a tick - go to the website mentioned earlier or pay your local Stealer about $70 to fix.

Hi All
I found the trick to get it to work again, Disconnect the battery for 5 minute this will cancel out the lock-out / engine immobiliser system and let you resynchronise the fob as per owners manual
