G/Day, I posted on the end of a thread the other day, it was probably the wrong thing to do as this thread had already answered the question asked. What they call a "dry argument". So I will try again with a fresh one! Ok, so I am soon to repaint my Perentie, I am doing it in a single colour (sand), satin finish. I intend to do it with a roller, I have watched some do this on youtube and have been impressed by the results. The guy at the paint shop was very helpful, he mixed the right paint with this method in mind and gave me some good pointers. Would like to know if anybody here has done this and have any suggestions. I will post photos as it goes too. Thanks Grant

I have seen video's of this process on youtube.
I'm impressed.
Do a few practice runs first. Start with small panels and gradually work up to the larger ones as you gain experience.

Thanks Mick, good thinking. I have the gear to spray, but the rolling looks good and also gives a nice thick coat, not a bad thing on a bush truck.

If you use a good quality foam roller it should look ok.

Yeah, that seemed to be the go, however, the guy at the shop showed me these small microfibre rollers. He said give them a go, suggested that they should leave the paint smooth with less air bubbles. He suggested, I think it is called, "brushing off"? Instead of continually going over it with the foam roller, to get rid of the air bubbles, very lightly pull a good quality brush over the new coat. Practice, he was a carriage painter, said if I'm patient I can get a very smooth coat.

take off the CES tool box lids vent flaps and the floor plates practice with them while you strip down the rest of the vehicle and setup the tape out.
theres also a panel under the vehicle behind the right hand side ces box that hides a heap of wiring thats worth pulling out and either using as a practice peice or at least cleaning up.
