Senior moment with the fuel system....

Hi there,
As part of the ongoing alternator repairs I did a bit of a service, which involved the changing of the fuel filter. After completing the repairs in my eagerness I forgot to turn the ignition on to allow the fuel system to bleed before starting the engine, started ran for about 15 seconds and then stopped, now won't start. Realised as soon as I turned the key :eek: what I had done.

Searched the .pdf manual I have and again it is useless trying to find what I actually want. Sure this is a simple fix, anybody have a copy of the fuel bleeding process?

Do I have to bleed both the LP and HP systems?

Any assistance given gratefully received.

Do you have a Nanocom or IIDTool Marty? I'm sure there is a fuel prime routine in there somewhere.

I guess you could try filling the filter with fuel and then do you normal process.

Yes that is a pain when that happens:angel:

Best method is to bleed the air out at the schrader valve on top of the engine using about 5 key cycles. Ideally you will need to attach a bit of hise to the valve tool to prevent diesel going down into the valley...

Then ensure battery is in fully charged condition, crsnk with foot on the floor.

I have a Faultmate MSV 2 extreme, guessed as much, I was hoping to do something easier, if all else fails I'm off tomorrow I'll get the Faultmate out see if I can find something. I can see below I have other options, I like the sound of the one from JC.

uuuuuuummmmm yes I could however I think once I have turned the engine I'm pretty screwed. I was pretty sure I had to bleed the system, just not sure how, I've now found the shrader valve, bonus. Thanks for the suggestion, appreciated, I don't fancy grovelling around getting that filter off again and also tipping half the filters worth of diesel down my arm like I did getting it off.

Thanks for that, will do. I was a bit concerned that I might have to bleed the HP loop which appeared to be a bit more complex. I'll be out there first thing tomorrow morning singing "the Diesels in the valley", I'm sure Bunnings will have a piece of hise..........love it :)
