I am thinking about putting a Detroit Locker in the rear of a Series 3 Stage 1. The concern I have is that the axles may not be strong enough.
I am in the Territory with limited muddy slopes etc. does anyone have any advice on handling issues in sand I have read sites in Africa talking of inhibited steering in soft sand. Dont really care about on road handling as its fairly lousy already.
Thanks

ive just put one in the rear of my disco, and have been floggin it
to see what it dose.
on the tar if you drive normally you wont notice it!
if you give it a boot around a corner it WILL steer you straight! trust me.
on the dirt its fine, it slips when not under acceleration, but being
mine dosent unlock like on tar because there isnt enough grip for it
to dissengauge.
i dont know anything about the STG3 axles. but if you can upgrade them to 24 spline that would be the go.
if you have a 10spline detroit the drive dogs can be re splined to suit the 24 spline axles. bout 220bucks.
cheers phil.

I've got the same set up in a truck I am rebuilding and it has been doing comps with 35s and an absolute nutter behind the wheel.
