Hi All,
My 2011 2.4 130 has a vibration when decelerating from around 65-60km/h. It disappears once under 60km/h totally.

I thought l'd remove the rear prop and run on the front to eliminate (or not) the shaft? From my reading it is the rears that are more prone to issues? The balances on the rear seem to be all there etc.

No suspension mods. No huge tyres (255/85 BFG MTs). Alloy tray.

The issue has presented after l returned from a trip up the Birdsville Track.

Thanks,
Michael

*Drop the rear shaft (obviously lock centre diff) and try again, as it sounds like the front prop shaft to me.

*The BFG M/T will add "new" noticeable inconsistent vibration as they wear.
*Clutch - Does it have a noticeable rattle on idle in neutral? (generally would be more clunk clunk to drive).
*Adapter shaft wear (again generally would be more clunk clunk to drive).

*If the vibration is only very very small, as in other people may not even pick it up, then every single Defender TDCi (puma) I've driven has a tiny gearbox vibration at different throttle off or float point on the accelerator, from brand new to 200K. I suspect that its inherent of any vehicle that runs the MT82 gearbox, but wouldnt be noticeable in vehicles such as the Ford Ranger.

Daz

Great l'll do this afternoon.
It is noticeable to me! Its fairly obvious.

The clutch l think is ok - it has the usual squeaks whilst changing gears!

It's done 75,000kms.

I shall go for a drive!

Thanks.

This might or not be of help. I had a coupling replaced on a tdi and the markings were not aligned correctly which lead to a vibration. When the splines were correctly aligned the vibration disappeared. I don't know if this applies to the Puma.
