CDL vacuum lines

Hi all,
Been looking at trying to get the CDL working today.

Ive found the 3 lines. Ive traced the red and white back from the actuator to the dash switch no worries.

Now im guessing here the black line will be the vacuum source. Hard part the only piece i can find runs from the switch to halfway down the transmission where ive found it cut/broken.
But do you think i can find the other half of the line to either rejoin or re-run a new line.
So any tips to where this line will be attached on the other end?

It attaches to a T in the vacuum hard line under the air filter housing.

Yep. Steel Vac line that goes from alternator, behind cylinder head under air filter box and connects to brake booster. There is a little branch of that main line that your black cdl vac line should go in to

Just had a look and found it. Bad part, someone decided to crimped the pipe over for some reason and zip tie it.
Not exactly sure what the zip ties are achieving though

if you split the black line for any reason you loose pressure for the brake booster.

crimping it, folding it over and then zip tying it acompanied with putting a yellow RU sticker reading"Not to be used off road, CDL VAC Line split" is not a rare temp fix in the field for an EMEFIX for inadequate braking.

Is there any reason why you would not crimp the line, rather than the fitting?

I hope replacing that fitting isn't too hard. another thing to add to the spares box.

When I had a look at it on saturday night in the dark with only my phone torch, the actual steel tube looked liked it was crimped over. Hence me wondering what was the point of cable ties.

But while fixing it yesterday the guys had actually put a small amount of clear hose on inwhich they then folded back over and held with zip ties.

But at least the CDL now works :D:D

yes, because dicking around with the hard plastic vac line is a pain.

Its far easier to rip off the plastic hose from one of the wiper washer jets, snip off an inch of it, refit it and use the bit you cut off to push over the barb, fold and then because its only under vacuum, isnt a permanant fix you just secure it with a zip tie.

At least thats how I used to do it.

takes about 20 minutes from go to whoa including removing and replacing the airfilter.


someone might want to ping a mod to stick this in the good oil for the lizard drivers who in the next 5-6 years are going to suffer brake loss due to this very fault.
