Hi i have developed a whine which seems to be coming from the drive belt area. Not sure if it's the power steer. The pump is not that old so wouldn't think it would be that.
Anyone got any ideas or similar cases cheers. Videos below show the noise (hopefully)

Take the belts off and spin the pulleys by hand.
Might just be a dry bearing.

The water pumps are very prone to squealing, and that is signified by a change in the sound with changing engine temperature. Mine would stay quiet until just below normal operating temperature, then squeal at idle, which is very common.

You can check for dry bearings by spraying some WD40 into the bearings of the alternator, idler and others one by one until you find a difference. You can also try taking the belt off and turning by hand to feel for stiffness, roughness and play.

If the flat belt idler pulley bearing is worn it will make the grooved belt run out of line,a tell-tale is black powder on the alternator casing, the crook bearing makes the belt run out of line shaving a fine mist of rubber dust off it.
