well, you can just take out the roof lining and take it to a car uppolsterer and they'll re-do it in about an hour (i'm unsure of the price as it was quite a few years ago since my old man had it done)
i'm currently in the process of re-doing the roof lining myself at the moment, it's not hard. all you need is the foam roof lining (from a vehicle upolsterer) and some spray on adheisive.
if you're after the original look, with the foam type lining, there's no real way you can stop it from happening (that i know of...) but it takes about 5-10 years for it to come down again from my experience.
cheers,
bryce

Hi Ferno
How about cutting a small slit with a knife and squirting a bit of sillycum in to glue it up??????

You're wasting your time trying to fix it. Been there, done that.
The only cure is replacement of the foambacked material.

That's what was done for mine when I bought it - good as new - very happy.

why would the advice for a Defender be any different ?
Its just that a quick home make-do type job (like using upholstery buttons to hold the thing up off your head - see BB's story on his Disco) doesn;t seem out of place in a Defender like it would in a Rangie.

Ok having had this problem on all the Range Rovers i have owned, there is no quick way to fix.
The way i have done it quick and cheap is to nick the misses dress making pins and pin the roof back up again. Works alot better than the glue and quicker and easyer to do

Did mine in the Rangie about 8 years ago, got the right lining from the auto upholstery supplier removed the liner stripped it used the 3M 888 I think it is and took a little time and patience and for around $40 (then) was as good as new.

that is the only fix......
its not the roof lining falling down....it is actually falling appart....
the cloth actually comes off the foam backing....
the only repair is the one mentioned above....removing the lining and re-trimming with new material.......
or.........for a fun effect.....
rip the cloth out and spray the foam black and stick some of them glow in the dark stars on it.......

Hi Guys,
My first post. I also have the saggy roof blues. The rear, aft of the sunroof has drooped.
It reminded me of the 76 two door I owned for 10 years. The lining was drooped within four years.
I think the Aussie sun isn't thought of in this part of the build.
