I was all set to do option B tonight. I was rereading the how to and noticed the last step being to bleed the brakes. That stumped me as I didn't have any fluid.

But in thinking about it. If all I am doing is removing the svs am I introducing any air into the brake system?

I was planning on just undoing the 3 mounting bolts that hold the pump and then undoing the bolts from underneath. Which shouldn't introduce any air.

Am I missing something?

Since the current stuff may be 16 years old its probably a good time to do it regardless, ;)

If you are not opening any lines, you don't need to bleed.
However,
Pedro makes a very good point.
I'd put new fluid through regardless and a number of folks have reported better/smoother TC and brakes operation following fluid change.

thanks

It was replaced 2 years ago. However, it is on my list of all the fluids I want to change.

I was just planning to do a brake overhaul and bleed the brakes at that point.

Also, it is just easier for me to do option B as one job of an evening.

cheers

Clint

From memory I removed the ABS unit from the car to do the option B repair. Seem to recall access being prohibitive otherwise.

have done 2 of these recently make sure you unclip the brake lines lift the module and remove the svs no need to remove it from the car takes about 45 mins

From memory I was able to raise up the abs unit but I had to grind the length of an allen key down a bit to get it to fit underneath
