Hi There,
Doing a few jobs on Red Dog, couple of minor things, gearbox transfer case, rear main seal etc....... Anyway decided to take the sump of and have a bit of a look and replace the gasket, oil seeping around the gasket.

Drained oil off got sump off and I found a bit of plastic in the sump, not worn just broken off. I have a feeling I know where "the bit" has come from just want some other opinions. The biro is there to give you a perspective of size. 482K on the clock so I am expecting some worn bits........... Pictures are below, what a goose!!!

And yes the oil pump bolt and chain are fine.

No doubt I'll be ripping the front cover off the engine at some point, however this will have to wait a while until the funds pool recovers. Found the rear hub leaking this afternoon, from the hub not the o-ring. Anyone in Perth got a spare good one?

Cheers Marty.

Not sure if it's just me, but I can't see any pictures?

But I'll have a guess, if it's orange/black and plastic like I'll go with the cam chain tensioner is starting to breakup.

Hi Kelvo,
No it's not you it's me, forgot to wait for the pictures to upload. My suspicions as well, couldn't think of any other orange bits.

Cheers Marty

IMO you better order a timing guide and a tensioner(both are from that orange plastic)and get there ASAP!!! or this can happen:

'this is the guide

We've seen a bit of guide fall down into the oil pump chain and jam in the sprocket, stretching and snapping the oil pump drive chain. 1 very dead td5 followed...

Best get it done asap😕
