Hi,having been a D2 owner for some time,i have just purchased a D3s,TDv6,,, with Lotsa bits, prior to picking up from the car Yard, it was fitted with new brakes all round,Pads and Rotors, since pickup(8 days ago) i've had the 3 amigo's come up 5 times and it goes into limp mode, thus having to pull over and turn off/on again.
my question is can it be reset without having to return it to the dealer in Sydney which is 80k's away,,or is it a mechanical problem being picked up by the computer.
cheers all
Paul,,,,,,,,,or is it Nigel?

Given that you bought it from a car yard then I would be going back to them to have them sort it as my first port of call.

There will be a problem that needs fixing. It doesn't go into limp mode for nothing. The dealer will have to fix it. The three amigos is a D2 term and pretty meaningless for a D3. What is the error message or messages?

Low battery often results in lots of faults & limp mode - if it's been sitting in a car yard the battery might have lost its condition ? (They are heavy on the battery)

Further details of actual error would be very handy for troubleshooting.
Have a look for other members near you with diagnostic tool capability.

Fault reading and clearing is not VIN locked for the good quality tools (eg iiD and BBS).

Or better yet, buy one yourself .... guaranteed it will pay for itself. But that will obviously take a bit of time to get to you.

Did you test drive for a reasonable time without issues and before brake works were completed?
Does limp mode limit the speed/gears or does the suspension drop?
Is it possible that one or more wheel speed sensor has been damaged/dislodged ?

Scott

it was driven for a day before purchase after the brakes were done.
there are 3 orange warning lights come on in the speedo and tacho
the car slows to a crawl and throttle is unresponsive..
it is back at the dealer now..
thanks for your reply.

I wonder if it is the brake light switch playing up after the position of the pedal was perhaps altered by the new brakes?? Maybe it thinks that the brakes are on, which causes havoc when you try to accelerate, at least on a D4.

Also, what are the three orange lights? It would help to know what they are.

Hi all thanks for the wise words regarding My D3
After a little jump up and down they are now sending it to the proper people to have it repaired.they were clearing codes with a generic tool, but not fixing the problem..
fault codes told them it was a fuel pressure problem,so they say
mentioning refund got things moving.

We'll see.
I'll keep you posted
I haven't mentioned names here in case it turns out well

It's a very nice low K's 99K,K's unit with all the stuff on it for touring or mild off road ,maybe some of you Sydneyites will know the car when i post foto's later.
thanks again
Paul

Good to hear you have some action on it and hopefully they will follow through correctly so that you get it sorted.
