Hi gurus.

Can I change an ECU from my old (1999) to my new (2002) TD5 engined Disco?

The old one has a tuned up! version, I'm presuming my current one is standard, is there any way to tell?

If so, how so?

Will a cylinder head (99) fit onto a (02) motor if required? It's just sitting here, so I would get it faced and set up ready to go if ever required.

Being an old 'Petrol Head' has any one reprofiled a camshaft to improve the motor's performance?

I understand the injectors are different but is that physical or will the newer ones fit the old head?

Anything else I would have to change if I were to fit the old head?

Thanks in advance 'fountain of knowledge'!

Cheers

Mike

Hi, if the 2002 engine has green top injectors(and it's very likely to be so) the '99 ECU will not work well on it, as about head swap it depends again if it's about 10P and 15/16P engines, there are some slight differencies(one is the FPR) which are above my knowledge, what i know for sure is that it's not a straight swap, i'm sure somebody will enlighten us about that.

As mentioned, it depends on if its eu2 or 3 , if it's eu3 then it won't work properly but it will run , green tops will fit but run a higher pressure therefore cam , timing chain , guides and tensioner are all stronger on eu3, placement of piston combustion chambers are different as well

Cam profiles / duration, is set well from standard for a turbo diesel, you'd struggle to get better. Concentrate on a good flash tune ( if nnn type ecu ) boost increase , decent intercooler , exhaust improvement, once everything else is sorted
