Apple may have just signalled the end of the analogue headphone (http://thenewdaily.com.au/life/tech/2016/09/08/apple-goodbye-headphone/?utm_source=Responsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20160909_TND)

I don't understand all that stuff, I don't even have a phone, but Wifey does (understand), some of it anyway, she has her eye on one of these, ...I just pay the bill!
What does impress me about these phones, even our old one, is that they take such good photos, we now hardly use our camera. The new I Phone promises to be even better in this regard.

OOPS! something to remember when doing business with Cantonese speakers....

Apple made a blatant phallic blunder in its iPhone 7 marketing (http://thenewdaily.com.au/life/tech/2016/09/11/apple-iphone7-penis-ad/?utm_source=Responsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20160912_TND)

No worse than any Samsung offering.....

And one thing Apple does well - integration - everything Apple in our home just works - it all talks to one another easily..

Everything on any device, available anywhere without messy configuration...

Yep, this is the reason we all have Apple products at home - you turn it on and it works. With the Apple TV, any of us can use our devices instantly and flawlessly when we want to watch or show others stuff.

We're not tech heads and when SWMBO and Daughter went over to Android it caused all sorts of dramas, now everyone's back to Apple stuff, life is easier around our place. :)

Yep, I diverted to Android briefly before coming back and conforming. The software and marketing is what your buying. I like it because it just works especially the integration of devices. The hardware is good but on par with competitors. The camera on the 6s+ is very good for a phone.

I was thinking just yesterday how in under 10years the mobile phone has become a phone, a computer terminal, a magazine/newspaper/ book, audio book, am/fm radio, TV, video player, camera, camcorder, video rental kiosk, micro recorder, torch, alarm clock, photo album, credit card, atm terminal, calendar, game console etc. And I regularly use most of these. No wonder they are popular.

Yep, I wish work would switch to apple laptops. We have iPhones and it's a pain connecting to a PC to do software up dates, at home it just seemless.

The other thing is I have never had a virus or anything corrupted in the last 6 years.

Everything just works.

Biggest bonus of Android is you get the latest tech. Apple is always 12 to 24 months behind. If you want a basic phone though iphone 7 is good. The LG G5 for example has attachments like a speaker 360degree cam and video and robotic cameras. Plus a wide angle lens camera. Also costs half what an iphone 7 does at $540...

Ohh and once you get wireless charging you'll expect it on every new phone . Still not on Apple.

Tombie
14th September 2016, 09:53 AM
You can keep your wireless charging!
I won't be having that energy inefficient tech in my house.... [emoji6]

Apple tech is the reason you have a smart phone - and certainly not behind.

LG G5 example given uses Friends the 360 cam is stand alone - so yet another device to carry - so no different to any offering..

And you get what you pay for. It's gets average reviews, slammed against S7 etc.
Fit and finish are poor...

Apple tech pushes boundaries- and drives the others to catch up or push further - That's Land Rover vs Toyota.

Amazing how the droid fans forget you need to run Antivirus - a performance killer...

I have never run anti_virus on my S phones. Didn't know you had to. I see Android as being LR and IPhone is Toyota. I mean customisation and user input is the domain of Android and Apple is the bland, dependable, unexciting Cruiser of the phone world. 😃 cheers

PS I am with you on wireless charging. I love the fast charging that the S7 offers.

If by customisation you mean "can make icons anything I like", add or change colours etc..

Then I would describe a Droid as "a cap on backwards teenagers phone" made to meet the expectations of teenage individuality whilst looking like everyone else - and just like Hilux drivers, They all fit slightly different parts but they all do the same mods...

Where as the IOS is like a LR... no nonsense, no BS, made for purpose, and gets the job done right every time [emoji41]

The interface on many Android apps is a lot more appealing IMHO. But that's about all I like. Android devices seem faster but are more vulnerable.

I love the way android users say things like 'latest tech' and 'more customisable' but never about what these things actually mean? You can change the icons or save files to a different location? Those sort of things just don't matter IMO, so it's a moot point.

As for wireless charging - you know how much power you lose doing that and how inefficient that is? Is plugging in a charging lead soooo hard you want to burn more than twice as much power every charge because you're too lazy to? :D

I love these sort of threads - like either side will be able to convice the other that their product is better. Holden V Ford, CAT V Cummins, etc. All good fun though, let's keep it rolling. :)

Latest tech being quad hd display being out for 2 years now which is great for virtual reality vs. Apple 720p and no VR. And if your not impressed by the G5 then there's the Moto Z Force Which has the customizable add ons which are not seperate to the phone. Some of the Friends add ons are attached too such as the camera mod .

I love the Notes Spen and use it daily for taking notes.

Our power bills 50 bucks a bi month. Solar panels for days...

Apple has been losing market share for 6 years running. For good reason.

And? What's the difference there then?

Only thing I use iTunes for... oh that's right. Playing music on my laptop...

I've got weather, stocks (disappointment plus there), notes.

A stylus is ok - but nothing specific to any brand or OS. They all can do that.

Could be worse - could be a Windoze phone. What a load of puss they are!!!!

Learn the specs [emoji13]

Apple 1080 not 720.
VR for iPhone is available (why the **** you'd want to use VR on a bloody phone is beyond me)
I take notes by talking to my phone - something that happens very well, or I click my pen into stylus mode [emoji6]

Then we go the new unit - the 7+ with its twin cameras..

As for power bill - mines always a credit, enough each year that I can buy a brand new phone or 2!!
I still wouldn't use inductive charging - it's sadly inefficient, and an insufficient amount of data to know the effects of it - especially right next to me when in bed. (Mobiles are bad enough, with not enough info about the effects of their RF/EM)

As for sales - Commodores are popular and prolific. Doesn't make them good [emoji6]

Have to disagree with you there. Android is the clunky Toyota IME. Apple design and interface is like silk comparatively. And the way Land Rover are going all new models look the same too! Just like apple. Give me a Commodore 64 any day! 😝

Mr Land when I am Kayak fishing the only thing that is silky smooth buddy is the photos of fish from the S7's superb camera and the water beading of its IP68 frame. I add a float strap and it's a sweet thing. I have had iPhones and own an IPad Air (which I like) and I'm not a fan boy of either platform but the Samsungs are good kit and to this little user it's the LR of the mobile phone world. Cheers

In my experience Samsung are rubbish

How the hell anyone can say they have a smooth interface is beyond me..

Then there are the warranty woes... Weeks to get them sorted longer than Sony!

Camera is Ok

As for media management all types of phones are on a par if you have a google account

What really irks me with the Samsung and LG is the utterly crap sound when using it for its supposed primary function...

Sony for me mainly for the sound quality and no other phone out there gets near the camera in manual mode but I haven't tried the new iPhone yet

My experience with Apple is rubbish. I had a MacBook Pro which failed within the first 6 months then took Apple 3 Months! To return it to me(hd failed). Thing was a rip off to begin with. Paid $2600 and traded it in for a Toshiba which did the same job for $1400.

Suppose it only takes one bad experience for most of us to ditch a brand forever.

I am with Tombie on this one.

We use apple products for work and play. The boys use the phones for everything, including the job management system. They also have iPads to use for work, mainly used while not on the road, phones do everything while on the road.

No problems at all, apart from dropping and smashing the occasional phone. In fact you would be surprise how well they work even with a smashed screen.

My MacBook Pro recently played up,it is 2010 model and gets used everyday.A wiring ribbon needed replacing,I dropped off at a computer repair guy and he fixed it straight away.

I use both an iPad and iPhone while on the road. The iPad has a data simcard,so it will work anywhere it has range, same as a phone, which is very handy.

We find the way they all integrate together a great bonus.

They are more expensive than other products, but in our opinion are well worth it,in business, reliability is what is needed. We use these products all day, every day.

If you do have an issue, apples back up and tech support is pretty good.

We have had many other brands over the years, but nothing compares,in our opinion.

And no we will won't race out and get the new model,we will keep using what we have until a new model is needed or our phone plans come up for renewell.

Incisor I have used Samsung phones from the flip phone onwards and have had s3, s5 and s7 x 2 each. Handed all down to kids. The s3's and s5's still going strong with abuse. Having said that my IPhone 4 is still going strong. The screen on the IPad Air is Very fragile compared to previous IPads and the Acer Iconia bombproof pad I have. I found out the hard way it was fragile. Always thought sound and reception was excellent. There is a reason they have and continue to sell well. I don't mind IPhone at all. I just prefer Android at present. Cheers

What I find the most amusing.

Apple release a product and the world watches.

Samsung release a phone and the media barely makes a whimper.
