What is it with having a nice new car, just 2 years old and she needs a make-over already:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(
Took it into the panelshop recommended by the dealer today to get it assessed.Flash place,Lombardi Brothers, they only do prestige work, factory approved for Ferrari,Aston Martin,Jaguar,Land Rover and a few others.
Needs a new front gard and the door can be repaired.
I hit a roo on Yardie Creek road(Ningaloo Reef road) Exmouth.

Thanks.
The only consolation is the gouge old Mal put in the door will get fixed too,see it adjacent to the air intake.
Loren,my service man at Southern Landrover has been so helpful, the D4 had to go back for 2 days warranty work, they will lend me a vehicle and get the panel work done whilst they have it.That is great service for a country client:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

I'm glad I spoke to the dealer before the insurance company Russ.I was then able to tell the insurance company Lombardi will be doing the job as they are a Land Rover approved repair shop. They were happy with that as they shop is also an SGIO approved shop.

Except for the scud missile roo's
I feel for you Andy, I can think of nothing worse. I'm sitting here presently waiting for the wife's new car to be washed and wondering whether I trust these guys to drive my even newer car from the gate to the car wash bay

I stopped getting the car washed when we got rid of the Mazda, which was good but just transport.
Probably unhealthily attached to our current cars

On the plus side you can claim the repair cost on insurance if need be - keeps your new car looking good at minimal cost. Unlike me I cant claim an auto trans failure on insurance so I have to keep my older car on the road at a higher repair cost............

Interesting how many Land Rover owners get better customer service from "country" dealers.
About 4 months after I bought my D4 I went into the service division of ULR, where I bought my vehicle, asking for advice on better A/T tyres and the paddle shift operation, and I received the " we are totally uninterested " response from a young guy. I think in hindsight he just didn't know his LR product or tyres. Thus I have not returned to the dealership for service and use another LR dealership closer by.

A little ding like that wouldn't have bothered us Deafener owners. :o We shrug them off as evidence of our hairy chest toughness amongst the wimps and their hair dressers vehicles.... :p

Marcus i rode my DR650RS up from Perth to Coral Bay, then from Coral bay to ecmouth via the ningaloo reef road and after crossing yardie creek up to the bottom of my fuel tank and seat had a well deserved rest in tge carpark... the biggest mistake that day was pushing on to Exmouth at dusk through the Cape Range Nat Pk rd. I was down to 50kmh dodging roos and one hand onthe brske lever for km after km. My cousin was riding with me on his XR600 and we were both lucky not to have been t boned by some of those crazy roos. Won't forget tgat night for a while!!!

The road was littered with carcases Justin, there has been late rains up there and plenty of roadside grass.Yardie Creek was impassable, way too deep, tide was flowing in well.

Sorry for the hijack Andy
We did a similar ride between Coonabarabran and Gunnedah starting at dusk, me, GPZ1100, Johnno a GPZ900. After a few miles, he says to me,,, "Stuff sitting on 60Klms,, if I'm going to hit one, I wanna HIT one". They were everywhere
I'd sooner be drifting up Falls Creek

Paddle shift they should have advised on, however, they won't advise on tyres - the LR stance on tyres is as provided.
Not to mention - what would they know from a 'company' perspective? For tyre advice a tyre specialist is the go.

Paddle shift is brilliant,, don't even have to place it in the "S" position, just flick down as you need it and then fix the shift knob after you've done what you needed to do. Very handy when over running down a hill in CC.

My question to the LR dealer re paddle shift was "when the vehicle is cruising in 8th/overdrive, when I down shift once with the paddle the auto drops down 2 gears to 6th " . I aked is this normal and the young guy at service didn't know and told me to book the vehicle in, when I only wanted a simple answer to the question. So frustrating at the time.

From what I've worked out over the last two weeks is, it drops by two years at a time until it starts to match revs/gearing to suit.
This may not be right, but that's what I've seen so far. I would think this would be situation normal.

Wait until you use it off-road,BRILLIANT!!!!! Both hands on the wheel and changing gears, until the steering wheel is upside down and you go arse about!!!!
Sand mode keeps it at 2000 to 2500 RPM,alot of this isn't needed, the paddles work well in this instance.

You can take him out of a Defender, but not take the Defender out of him.You no longer need to measure your gear changes in years:cool::cool::cool::cool:

Its funny how you say that though. Took the defender for a drive yesterday,, it does feel like years :P . The good thing about that though, you always know exactly what gear your in :D
