Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows about the production history of the 130 single cab tray back defender ute.
Specifically when the first ones arrived in Aus and when they stopped bringing them to Aus.
Reason I'm asking is that I'm interested in buying one and until the other day I thought that they where only available in the 300tdi model. But according to an auction website I stumbled on recently they're advertising a 2012 (Puma) 130 single cab ute. Is that possible?
Thanks in advance.

G'day
I may be wrong -but I'm pretty sure I've seen a TD5 single cab down in Darwin.
When we placed an order for our own ute (in 2012) we could have specified a 130 instead of a 110 wheel base, so they were definitely still available for order as a TDCi. But I think you had to specifically order them, because dealers weren't bringing many single cab Land Rovers in.
Cheers
Alan

If they had formally made the extended cab version it would have sold hundreds as the seat could be moved back just a little bit further. :o

Hey Martyn
What is that vehicle? Do you know who did the conversion?
Never seen a Puma Xtra cab, but it looks a great job... :clap2:

Great to see NSW fire department still investing in Land Rovers! Around my way, Bushfires long ago crossed to the dark side and drive Tojos, but the extra payload of the Land Rover is must be a real asset on a working vehicle.
I remember Parks and Wildlife in the Gulf country (North Queensland) ran TD5 130s for their crews back in the day. I was about to get a 110 as my work vehicle but then the local Land Rover Dealer at Mount Isa was caught in a compromising position with somebody else's wife and had to leave town fast. The dealership closed and that was last nail in the coffin for the brand thereabouts. Ended up placing my order with Toyota instead.

Not 100% but I think it was done by Austral in Brisbane.
It's the only one as just after (I think) was when Landy announced they were stopping production of the defender.

Yeah - bit of confusion - the reference to "only one" was re RFS build.

Hi,
my 130 big cab Tdi was initially for the Vic Water Board or whatever they are called and I know of another in Kurrajong also, may even be for sale. Both these cars are now auto's courtesy of Davis Performance at Amaroo Park and have turbo mods too--very nice to drive.
Would like to know also if these'kits' are available and cost of as a number of puma utes are for sale but with the small cabin's and would be great when converted which is easy to do.
