I need help to diagnose possible engine failure on td5 130.
Was on freeway at 100kmh and heard a whoosh noise then engine died. Pulled off freeway straight away and now motor wont even crank over .
Feels locked.... seized...... what are the oil pump bolt symptons?
130km on odo
Got the vehicle tilt trayed home, just hooked it up to my nanocom and no faults showing.
Ive got an engine saver temp watchdog thinngy, engine was only at 70 degrees, 5 min driving. Oil full, water full.
Wife just had a baby yesterday so bad timing,
And need the ute for work.
Anyone got a 2nd hand low km td5???
Thanks in advance

First of all remove the drive belt and check that the engine will turn over. I have had idler pulleys and alternators sieze that have stopped the engine rotating .

You were spot on.
Idler pulley seized.
I got the car into the shed this arvo and diagnosed within ten minutes.
Might get her a few other treats whilst she is in the shed and over the pit.
And yes I will do the oil pump bolt.
Thanks again

Well the weekend got better as it went on.
Most importantly the 130 will be back on the road in a couple of days,
Wife came home and is in good shape.
Ive managed to pick up a mates car for my daughter( i was 1/2 way through fixing a clutch in her VW golf) -she will be doing the school runs while my wife cant drive
And the new baby is happily at home with her new parents.....My wife was a surrogate for her mate !
