I visited her on Tuesday Ean.
Sad thing was my lowly $80000 D4 was the cheapest car in the lot.
Lots of exotic European sports cars there, many just for a polish and detail.

Warranty jobs.
Lower control arm bushes, lhs noisy at 25000km,both noisy by 30000km at off-road height only.
Oil management system failure,1 fault, just before I got to the dealer for the last service, couldnt have happened at a better time.
They re-set the fault it never returned, warranty job was to replace the cup measurement system inside the sump.
I hit a roo up north,Southern Land Rover arranged to get it repaired at a real flash repair shop whilst it was in the city.
I got a VolvoS40 as a loaner whilst it all went on.I could have had a new landy for the warranty job,not the help me out job so one VERY HAPPY Southern Land Rover client;););););););)

Andy

Tell me more about the oil management fault.

I have had two mysterious warnings pop up on my car.

One telling my oil was low.

The other telling me I could not check the oil volume.

Cleared both times & oil volume was ok.

The fault I got was ENGINE OIL LEVEL MONITOR SYSTEM FAULT.
It was current when it went in for the last service. They sorted it out by re-setting it,but told me it had to come back to have the measure inside the sump replaced.
Not available usually means the oil level hasn't stabilised,it is supposed to warn of a low level, how much does it show when you check the level????

It may have been some of that foam packing I proded at your place.Didnt seem as noticeable on the way home.A much easier fix than curing rattles:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Hi Andrew, I noticed you said both front bushes making noise by 30000km in off-road height. Is there any specific maneuver or sequence of actions that you did that highlights the noise.
I have followed a lot of discussion on this site about the front LCA bushes and the failure envelope seems to be a bit random but the view has been offered that selecting access mode while stopped contributes to early failure, is this something that may have been the case with your vehicle.
I can see selecting off-road would put the bushes under stress if stationary as well, it's a significant change in suspension height and geometry and if the wheels are not rolling it has no chance to normalise the forces in the suspension, again, is this something that may have contributed.
I think failure of this type of component at such an early stage in the vehicles life to be at odds with general vehicle durability expectations.
Mine has done 68000 km and has a couple of months warranty left, I have been aware of potential front end noise but not noticed anything yet. Having said that I would like to put it to bed before December (end of warranty). I do use access a lot but rarely stationary, SWMBO has short legs so I have got into the habit of dropping it well before coming to a halt.
Thanks........Peter

Hi Peter.
Lowering may have contributed to the early failure, its something Ive done since new.
To try and make the noise, try carparks with speed humps.Drive over them on a 45deg angle in off road height.Mine seemed to make noises on the smoother humps with more travel rather than the short sharp ones.
All good now.

All good now.
So what was the other component that they found needed replacement?

The receipt only mentioned the hydra bushes and oil management system. The bloke I got the keys off said I need to ask Loren,he isn't back from leave until next week.I think they may have had the wrong parts????
