Maybe its a good thing that we were put in our own section !! , would appear that the old the Sport is not as problematic as the D3/4s Lol . So dont feel so lonely in here now .

Haha. Just did a few thousand ex Melbourne, to and around the Flinders Ranges, towing a packed 7x4 trailer. Happy to say the old rig, now with 208000 kms on the clock, was faultless (and awesome) in every way. With a slight tail wind from Renmark to home it did the best economy I've seen from it!

So the suspension is finally sorted? The tdv8 is a nice towing/touring motor.

Must be the time of year , just did a return trip to Sydney towing a camper , went well , good fuel usage ,very comfy .
No complaints .

Touch wood I think so! It made some occasional odd noises at offroad height and extreme articulation but nothing disturbing and gold at normal height. Really was great to drive it under such a huge range of conditions.

Yeah it was great for passing while towing but possibly even more awesome in the rough when it dawdled over stuff that low range would have been needed for in other cars. Just fantastic. :)

I got my RRS 2011 TDV6 earlier this year and I'm about to start setting it up for Bush Work (Central Australia First Trip). Can I get some suggestions on what has worked well and what is a must and a nice to have.:)
Mostly around guarding, Rims, tires, suspension lifters etc

My opinion get good tyres, stick with the 18's, I would also look at headlamp protectors. I have found having the sport restricted in the way of accessories, there are people who have fitted D3 bull bars. I saw a RRS in Bridegtown in WA recently very well kitted out, bull bar, spare wheel carried LR tank etc etc, plus I think I saw a LLAMS lift switch in the center console.
If you start looking at Cooper tyres, my personal experience I would look at something else, within 100 klms of crossing the WA NT border I had shredded two of them, WA to NT direction, the NT road side has a sharper shale type stone than the WA side, that was what I found.
If you don't have mudflaps I would fit them, protects the sill area from gravel rash. I have a roof rack it was already fitted when I bought my RRS, don't like roof racks however this one serves many purposes, I have additional lights for both front and rear vision, plus an antenna mount. I have also now found a solar panel that fits in the base of the roof rack, not installed yet, one of those jobs to be done.
Mine has a plastic nudge bar thing fitted, I also know that my RRS has been over Big Red and done a truck load of other bush work with a relatively small amount of additonal work. Looks and drives fine. Small things make a big difference.

Thanks Marty, That was very helpful. I had Goodyear MT/R Kelvars on my D2 and run MT/Rs on my D1 before that and BFGoodrich MT on my Rangie Classic. Never any Issues. I have never run Coppers but from stories like yours over the years will stick well clear of them. I can't get Goodyear MT/R in the 18's I want. So am still looking at the next best option. Also cautious of the speed rating of MT so may have to settle for All terrains.
Didn't think of mud flaps but will be putting them on now.
