At the risk of being accused of heresy...
My brother and I swapped cars for a few days, he took my L322 and towed the big camper trailer to Kalbarri, and I took his HSE D4.
(Whispering) - I was pretty impressed. Suspension seems firmer, driving position more upright (and a bit higher), a bit narrower in the cabin and the dash is closer (like my old RRS). And of course, it hasn't the grunt of my 4.4 TDV8. But the seats are just as comfy, the back seats fold flat, and that load space is just cavernous.
If I were to move the L322 on in a year or two, would I be silly to replace it with a late model D4? It certainly feels like it'd be a fine overland tow tug and cruiser. And on corrugations, with 18 inch wheels, I'd be a lot happier.
Has anyone else gone from L322 to D4 or the other way?
