Hi guys. i need help for a friend, can anybody explain as to be understandable even for me if the camshaft alignment can be done without that dedicated tool cos he told me that he changed the belt but after two turns the signs are not together as at first setting, is that normal?, also after the belt tensioner was set there is one tooth difference as he said... unfortunately i'm completely dumb when it comes to mechanics so maybe i can't explain well, please if somebody can explain clearely how to do it without that tool i'll be extremely gratefull. Thanks in advance

There are aftermarket wedge type tools that will do the job of locking the cams.

Do the timing marks on the sprockets stil line up, just not match marks on the belts? It is normal for the belt to "walk" around the sprockets without upsetting the cam timing.

No it is not normal.
It can be done but is tricky as the cams will jump. Easier with 2 people and have one hold the cams. Also make sure the belt is not lose on the front side before tensioning.
