I think Bartlett's in Ballarat have made them before.
Try them.

Bartletts certainly can and do do them. They can do pretty much anything like that from the small to the ridiculously large. Had the pleasure of a guided tour of the facility just a couple of weeks ago.
I'll be getting their custom decision to make a new tilt for the 101 when I do the camping body on it, so I can get a factory looking canvas with a few extras in it. :)

Hi Guys
Yes a group buy is the go, then they can be all manufactured in one go.
What sort of number should we get done?

Hi Scott, not sure I'm reading this correctly, do you already have the canvas for these, are you the maker?
I don't want to upset the apple cart here but there is a post on remlr from an old canvas maker in Melbourne who has templates of military canvases from about 1968 or something, he doesn't have one for this trailer, but has said he can make them if he gets a couple of photos and some trailer measurements. He can get special fabric runs made of the old army canvas if there is enough quantity, or supply something cheaper, but very similar. Is it worth getting a second price?
Note, if you have the canvas and want to use it up then go with what you are organising. If I get one, I would want to go non-OEM, and have a vertical zip in the centre rear panel as well as an extra eyelet at the bottom of each corner where the zip is. Is this a possibility? $? I'm still debating........

Hi,
To put it very simply my company is OEM for many defence canvas products.
I'm just helping out a few people who want a track trailer canopy as I'm getting one made for me and Mick.
I don't know the guy in Melbourne but why get old fashioned canvas run when track trailer was poly cotton originally as it was only the 90s.
You'd be better getting one of these then getting it altered by a local canvas shop when fitted to your trailer.
Hope that helps.

Yes. Allen, aka Restless Rover.
You got a series or an Inter, he's the one to go to. I got my Inter tarp from him and am about to order a 2a tilt.
Scott has my tarp for the Track. He has access to the canvas and people with the skills.
Yep, let's not upset the apple cart. I'd be most upset if my Track tarp got sent interstate. I lent my 101 jack handle and starting handle to someone in Victoria to copy and haven't heard about them for a year now. I'm a little upset about that. They're hard to come by.

Also a Scott who said for this guy to organise canvas, so possibly the same Scott FFRMAN?
It appears I may have read his post incorrectly about patterns he has as well, he says he can still make most of their products to the Aust Military specs.
Also I think I found "Allen" this morning, not realising it was who you were talking about as his site is more about Mongolian travel!

Same one as on the Track Eagle, and Tvans got them as well, the wheel frame is hinged at the draw bar and swings out of the way for jerry/gas bottle access. I have one on an Eagle so could post some pics if need be, probably some on the web.
Edit: Just had a look at the pic, you can see the big hinge at the 2 points on the draw bar.
Also the tvan may not have got the swing away, saw one in the factory ~15 years ago, but don't recall, may have only been early ones. Eagles definitely have them.

100 td some interesting differences with my trailer besides the wheel carrier.
My support frame for the canvas has a horizontal bar across the back just above the tailgate. This bar supports/connects to a vertical section in the centre that then bends 90 degrees forward to become the canvass ridge pole.
Also my canvas tie downs along the sides and back are a u shaped wire section welded to the trailer sides rather than a pop riveted hook. Canvass looks pretty much the same as my original one though.
In theory I like your idea of having zipper to make access a bit easier to things in the back of the trailer but I don't see how you could make it work. You would have very little room to get things in and out. Especially on mine with the vertical pole and cross bar.

Thanks again 100td.
I knew Pete was transforming his track into a camper. I didn't know he'd gone that far. I have a 6x6 wheel carrier and will do something similar to Pete underneath in front of the wheels. I want to put a storage box in place of the wheel carrier.

I can't even remember which version of the poles I have! I have never used them and they must be in the shed somewhere, but haven't seen them for a looong time!
Come to think of it mine may be like yours? The reason I want something different is for easier access without lifting the sides up and pushing the top back, especially in the rain. I recall now there are some support pole pictures on this forum or the Remlr forum, with dimensions.
I think the pictured design above would suit me better, may have to look into that! As noted previously I have also considered making a frame up a lot higher with corner bars to have better usable space in the trailer.
rar110
27th January 2017, 09:17 PM
My frame is nothing like the above. There is a single horizontal rib/hoop running front to back which supports the apex of the canvas. The rib/hoop curves down at the front where it is mounted into the middle of the front of the tub. The rib/hoop curves down at the back and sits on a lateral horizontal bar that sits above the tailgate.

I currently have a box on the drawer bar. It holds my engel on one side on a fridge slide and there is storage space on the other side. The spare wheel is mounted vertically on the front of the box. One day I will put the spare under the front of the trailer as it's current location is not ideal. I can open the rear door of the defender fully mostly but if the trailer is slopping up or turned hard right I can't always open the door properly. I have a water tank under the front which I will need to move to the back. If you get psimpsons plans for the wheeel mount and jerry holders I would love a copy too.
I also hope to get a jackoff storage box to sit in the trailer tub. Like a ute body with lift up doors shelving etc. I will put my rooftop tent on top. I think this will be the perfect camping setup for me.

I'm guessing the pictured units were original test units, and a few changes happened (Lunette ring, U hooks, frame bar change, wheel carrier/jerry holder removal. Remember they are trying to sell, so offer what they can! Mine also has the spot welded U hooks, I can't see my ARN number, blue service/sale sticker is faded too much, I should try some digital enhancement! I have the koni shock numbers written down somewhere, they are adjustable. IIRC the axle size on the tactical is a bigger diameter than on the Eagle, yet the tactical is lower gross weight rated, but of course, everything military has lots in reserve.

27th January 2017, 09:36 PM
I last contacted Pete Simpson in 2013! I (or maybe rar110) will have to see if I can chase him up on the track forum and pry those cad drawings from him!
100 td
28th January 2017, 10:32 AM
Got onto Pete, he doesn't want his cad files to go out, he may make some kits up of jerry holders, spare wheel carrier etc., as he has done before, and sell them on. I said I would ask the question here to see how much interest and get back to him at some point and he could then chase up some prices.

Hi Scott,
Sorry, have been tied up on other things and haven't been back on, so can I draw a sketch for you to consider mods?
Also, do you believe the shape/finish/seams of the one pictured above are the same as what you have, or is it's seams/shape different to suit the other bars?
I'm also trying to work out the flip of the flap so it does flip! The bottom corner may be a problem without change.
100 td
6th February 2017, 08:39 PM
I think I will be stuffing you around too much to get a modified one, as not having seen one on, and working with one, I can't quite envisage how it will work with just a zip down the guts. Something would need to be done on the corners so you can throw the whole flap on the roof out of the way, but so the main canopy still keeps it support and shape. So at this stage I think it's best to say no, unfortunately, so you aren't stuffed around.
I think modified bars like pictured on the rear would work well, perhaps with internal ties or velcro straps to tie to the frame, then modified rear with zip so the flaps can be thrown back while the main canvas stays in place. This would also mean fixing the side corners over those pins with little centre brass flat catches or similar.
So I sincerely apologise if I have held up the precedings or artificially inflated numbers unnecessarily.
If you do make any extra's in the run, be sure to let me know in case I change my mind for some reason or another down the track.
rar110
8th February 2017, 05:40 PM
What about a zip at the rear, parallel to one of the triangle tops. You could then unzip, and throw the rear panel on the roof, basically hinging on the opposite top side of the triangle.
I wouldn't mind this mod for my canvas. Is that possible? It would make rear access a bit easier.
rar110
8th February 2017, 05:41 PM
I realise it's not perfect as there is still a vertical poll in the middle.
100 td
10th February 2017, 11:11 AM
Looking at the pics the canvas sits so much better with the other frame, as it is supported each end full length and doesn't slump, this would be far preferable (to me) so I think I will eventually change my frame. Then the end canvas could be changed for full access. Alternatively a higher frame and zip similar to the haulmarks may be better.
