I am about to change all the seals & gaskets in my series 3 diff and the manual advises to use certain types of loctite 270, 601 & stud lock compound

270 & 601 appear to be discontinued - does anyone know what the replacements are?

Is there anything else i should add to my shopping list that fits into this category.

what did the manual say the 601 was used for? its high strength stuff that can be difficult to get undone

270........sounds like a thread locker, just get the one closest that has similar wording

601 info : LOCTITE 601 - Dimethacrylate ester retaining compound - Loctite (http://www.henkel-adhesives.co.uk/loctite-4087.htm?nodeid=8802623062017)

Sounds like high strength thread lock but in bright green. I would guess high strength means heat required for removal.

Cheers,
John

from memory...

272 for 270, 680 for the 601 (assuming its for bearing and crownwheel mounting) 262 for the bolts inside the diff and 243 for the external ones.

FFS let it sit for 24 hours before you put oil in it.
