Hi all,

Not specifically a D2 question I guess... I installed my new MCC bull bar on my D2 recently. I'm after your input on what to do about the plastic arch guards that I removed.

Do people replace these in any way? I haven't had a good look, but there seems a small risk from stones etc being thrown forwards into the now open space and damaging things. (e.g. washer reservoir).

I took a cursory glance at it yesterday. If I were to re-use the existing plastic arch guards (or whatever they are called) there'd have to be some serious hacking, plus there is now nothing to attach them to at one end. I presume additional underbody protection plates for the bull bar would resolve this.

Thoughts? Pics? Experiences?

Cheers

Wil

The instructions with the ARB bar I fitted was to trim and replace the plastic trim. I had some thick rubber I put in place of the plastic, and wrapped it under the washer bottle and used some cable ties to help hold it in place.

Mine is also cut and trimmed. It has a small metal bracket that i believe is was there from original. The guard is zip tired on.

It do need it as you quite rightly pointed out, the washer bottle will get a hole in it.

As mentioned just trim them to suit. I cut mine and cable tied to the wrap around wings on the arb bar. My washer bottle is still open from straight up underneath, but least the cut down guard liner will protect it from behind ( anything flicking off tyre etc. )

Just did this (pic). Heated with a butane pencil torch and bent over. About to put them on. I'll trim them up with the Dremel once in place. Gives me a little more coverage from underneath. I'll see how it goes.https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2016/10/264.jpg
