I read a post here the other day about red (coloured) stage 1 V8s being extraemly rare? something like 8 in aust ??
mines red with very faded & crap piant so makes me think possibly origianl (although has some obvious paint repais)
how do I tell if it's origainl red ?? :?
does it make it more valuable style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

I have seen a few red stage 1s over the years - dunno about only 8 and them being rare.

Hey Jase
Paint code should be on the vin plate or whatever they're called.

Have you got a body or chassis number for it?
I've got a listing opf all Stage 1 vehicles built in australia. there aren't any 5d wagons on the list, so they were either on a different list, or were inported almost whole. However all of the 2d vehicles on the list that I have, wether they be utes or 2d hart tops, are all yellow of one variety or another. So it may be very rare in asutralia indeed.

Hi Jase,
I think you are refering to a post I made. The colour my mates is special in as much as there were 8 stage 1's ordered by "a company" and they had them ordered in unique colour - dark red (paint name espapes my memory), its a couple of shades darker than the factory red.
There cetainly were a number of red stage 1's made but not the same red as I'm talking about.
Just a bit of trivia, of the 8 special colour red ordered, 5 of them were all at Cooma 1998 for the 50th Anniversary 8)
Cheers

It's not the VIN, that's it's body number.
On the list I have it's there, but it's in one of the sections that only has the sequence number (4033 series 3 built in australia) so i'm afraid I don't have any further information for you. The stage one register on landroverclub.net may have some more information.

G'day Jase style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif
The Chassis No should be stamped on the gearchange instruction plate in the cab, the body no is the one on the Pressed Metal Corp. plate, from memory the Chassis no is also stamped on the left rear spring hanger just above the upper rear shackle pin, where it goes through the chassis mounting  if not it should be on the ADR plate in the engine bay, a numbetr of these vehicles were painted in PMG red, I think that they were mainly Cab Chassis /Dropside Traybacks.
cheers
