G'day, first post here. I'm looking at getting back into a Land Rover having owned a series 2, 2A, 3 and a Range Rover and I have been trying to look at an HSE located at Tanah Merah Brisbane. Tried to view it Sunday but the owner cancelled tried again today and same deal. Has anybody here been to see it, it's been on Gumtree for a while.

They can't be too keen to sell it it it's been advertised for a while. If I had a customer enquiring on a vehicle I was selling, I certainly would make the time.

What street?
Just interested as we live in the suburb.

The street is Barokee Drive, number 142 and judging by the photos it's parked on the footpath. It's a project. I was supposed to see it Sunday but his father had to go to hospital so I was to see it this afternoon at 3.30 but his father had to be picked up from hospital. Beginning to lose interest.

I have tentatively agreed to look at it tomorrow afternoon, not expecting too much.

Had a look at it this afternoon. Engine sounded nice and quiet, no smoke, removed the oil filler cap no fumes. The auto box selected all gears including low range. Air con doesn't work. Air suspension wouldn't raise. He disconnected the battery for a few minutes and it did work. Radiator is suspect as there is a hairline crack where the overflow tube exits the radiator and after it had been idling for a time the gauge was three quarters of the way up the scale. Body is dead straight but the paint is shot and down to the undercoat on the entire passenger side, bonnet and roof. The interior is badly sun damaged too. I declined to buy it and by the time I arrived home he had offered it to me for $1250. He however made the mistake of leaving the receipt in the car from when he purchased it for $700. I didn't bother to drive it, left front tyre had wire showing, left hand rear was half flat and the front left flexible brake line was leaking and there was no registration but I knew that.

Sadly it's probably uneconomic to restore and more of a wrecker, as there are complete RWC vehicles around for a price that's less than the restoration cost.

That's why I walked away. I was after a project but so much of that car was stuff that would cost heaps to fix.
