Washing TD6 engine bay

Thought it would be a good idea to give the engine bay a REALLY good wash to remove the years of road grime: I thought I'd apply degreaser then hit it with a pressure washer

I know it is a 4WD! but I will be applying water at pressure way above the recommended wading depth and when I popped the engine covers off, there seem to be wires and connectors everywhere, as well as lots of collected grime.

Anything I should be wary of or avoid getting wet?

Michael, the ECU and important stuff is inside that Huge black box on the front right hand side, under the engine cover there is only the injector loom etc, as with any electricals they don't recommend getting them wet. ( might cause corrosion of the connectors?)
The Alternator is also supposed to be protected according to rave when you read the radiator drain procedures, make you wonder though, if water got splashed up from under neath from the road anyway.

My advice is dont - if the L322 is anything like the RRS under the bonnet things are shielded from water coming up from the bottom bit not shielded form above - I have only washed my engine and this was with a hose and I had transmission issues for a week - including being stuck in low range because the relevant ECU is behind the battery and not shielded from water above and is not water prove.

A wipe down clean is probably the best.

I've washed the engine bay on mine several times without issue. As mentioned stay away from the ECU box. I've degreased and washed mine with the engine covers off - around the injectors and injector loom - no dramas.

Everything's pretty well sealed - it gets plenty wet enough driving normally in the rain - lift the bonnet one day after driving home in the pudding rain and you'll see.

They aren't that fragile.

Be very careful not to get the ABS computer wet it's on the back right hand side. As this is quite costly to replace and easily damaged by water!

Michael, not sure it you have an owners manual, there should be one in the RAVE I gave you a download link.
Re the Battery, make sure you follow the disconnection procedure if you have to work on it.
Also there is important info on jump starting,
You never connect the leads directly to the battery.
The is a connection point on the bulkhead for the positive under a cover. and The negative goes on a spacial bolt on the left side suspension turret.
