Gents,
Looking at a couple of nice Perenties here in the USA
The trucks are in great shape and run like sewing machines.
My question is in reference to manufacturers data plates.
The vin is shown on the plate on the off side seat box and matches the vin on the chassis. Is this all you need to verify the vin? Or, is the mfgr plate on the bulkhead, or lack therof a deal killer?
Thanks for any assistance.

The manufacturers plate you refer to is the "Compliance Plate" which states that it complied to the Australian Design Rules it was required to at the time of manufacture.
I doubt the American authorities would know what an Australian Design Rule was.
I thought these Perenties that were missing a compliance plate came with a letter stating it complied with the ADRs.
The other thing on the compliance plate was the date of manufacture.
This is one you should ask the seller and your registration authority. Find out what form of proof your registration authority require and what the seller has.
I heard Frontline were supplying letters from JRA containing the compliance data. Maybe you could get a copy of the letter from Frontline.

G 'day Steve and welcome to AULRO.
I imagine a Perentie looks pretty awesome for the price, over there?
Just to avoid confusion and hassle with you road authorities( god knows you have enough to contend with buying an older, imported land rover):
Perentie do not have a Vehicle ID Number (VIN), but uses the chassis number as a reference. Located on the front, right chassis rail.
Seems a minor detail, but can cause a lot of headache in some jurisdictions when proving identity.
As Mick states, AFM have supplied letters of compliance with vehicles sold as 'Operational'. If the vehicle was sold as 'Incomplete and non-operational' (ie: sold for parts) they may be reluctant to help. Check with them as your first action.
PS, you don't happen to be buying from John Costello do you?
