Can any of the electronic wizards out there help with this. I seem to be getting quite a bit of interference both am/fm lately.
I have now tried a couple of different types of aerials to no avail.
next step is to run radio power (ign) directly to battery to see if isolates problem.
what could be causing this, i have not experienced in past.
could there be problem in BECM?

I know older cars could have suppressors fitted to coils etc but dont know if thats going to be posssible with P38

Has anyone had this issue & what fixed it for you?
Maybe there's a phantom at work here

You aren't using the LR antenna then ?

It could be your radio unit on the way out but that is just a guess !

As a HAM radio operator I don't like interference :) It can be very tricky finding a source though.

If you have a small portable radio, switch it to AM and poke the antenna around the car and any interference picked up by the aerial of your radio will point you in the right direction. That is: when and if it is interference picked up by the receiver. Though less likely, it could also be coming in through the power lines. Usually this indicates a bad ground somewhere.

Indeed you do not seem to use the LR antenne. Any particular reason?

just went through this on an old subaru brumby i have. uhf and vhf ham radio along with am and fm stereo all had ignition static. that is ticking noise that got faster with engine revs. i replaced the spark plugs with resistor plugs along with a condensor fitted to the coil. problem stopped for a few days till i hit a pot hole and it returned. mulled it over in the head for a couple of days then went in search of something loose. turned out to be one spark plug lead resting against the engine block /head. it was shorting just enough to cause all my static problems. tied it back with a cable tie and bobs your uncle. probably didnt need the new plugs or condensor in hindsight but not that an expensive check anyway. if you can sit someone in the running car whilst you move the leads a little with a insulated screw diver it might show up the culprit......or not.

just my experience this time.

Our work vehicles get this issue. We tracked it down to the LED's fitted to the trays and to the flashing lights and spotlights. All led. When you pressed the brakes it would get interference, likewise if the spotties or flashing light was on.

Fitted any LED stuff lately?

Have fitted LED's some time ago but they are not on when stereo is on.
hopefully will get to setup direct battery connection over the weekend see if this helps.
