Hi There,
The letter indicator that illuminates to indicate which gear you are in, the R is lit all the time no matter which gear I am in. If I move the gear stick the letters illuminate as I move from gear to gear, however during the hole movement from P to D the R still stays lit.......... Any ideas?

Hi there,
Well for the 104 people that have looked at this thread so far and been unable to figure this one out it is electrical, something inside the module next to the gear selector. I took the unit out of my other RRS and everything worked as it should do, now I have to find another one........

I deduce that all the gear position indicator LEDs receive power and that their earths are switched on as required but the switching transistor for reverse has failed and is conducting permanently.

Hi Graeme,
I'll take that, sounds like a reasonable explanation............ Thank you

Considering that the air suspension indicator LEDs are permanently earthed with power switched as required, I suspect the gear selector module is designed the same way, switching power rather than earth, but the reverse LED always on nonetheless due to a failed transistor.

Hi There,
Ok, bought a new transmission indicator assembly, new from Rimmer bros, not as badly priced as I expected. Fitted it and I still have the same problem. Where does the position indicator assembly get its signal from?
Anybody need a good second hand unit, got one going cheap........... cheap, cheap!!
I have spoken to others about this and they say they have never experienced this before, can't help me, I'm out there now, anybody got any more ideas?
Not life threatening just a nuisance everything else seems to work fine.
Front parking sensors, are these known for their reliability? When it rains would a rain drop running over the sensor activate the sensor and indicate a "boing"?

You replaced the indicator light assembly but not the gearshift mechanism that drives the LEDs. Can you get hold of a used gearshift mechanism as I expect they would be quite expensive?
The parking sensor problem sounds like water is getting into the wiring harness somewhere.

Hi Graeme,
I replaced the whole panel that included the terrain response, HDC and hand brake switch, I am assuming this is what you mean. Rimmers did me a good deal, roughly half the price including delivery of anything I could get in Oz.
I am now looking for what supplies the signal to the plug I attached to the gear shift mechanism.
water getting in the wiring, thank you I'll check when I get five minutes.
Cheers Marty
