Just a general question here.
what is the consensus when having after market parts fitted ie bullbar etc should the company return the originals or is it up to the customer to request them, should the company ask what to do with original parts ie front bar, original fuel tank, replacement globes to headlights etc
Recent experience, had a bar fitted by the 3 letter company and told when asked "oh we cut it up and put in the bin" complete front bar assembly gone!:angrylock:

I think legally it's your property, and you're entitled to it. They should ask you before disposing of it. If you're really cranky about it, the dept of fair trading might be worth a call.

There is no need to cut the front bumper for an ARB bullbar on a discovery 4, however in their defence almost everyone leaves them behind so they aren't in the habit of keeping them.

From talking to them they would actually prefer customers took them as they need to pay for their disposal.

Best solution, save yourself the grief of fair trading and just contact come ARB dealers and ask them to call you when another D4 of your year and colour comes in, better yet, wait until you actually want it and you don't have to store it either!

Friend tells me that unless asked to return they bin them. Which costs them to dispose of.

Occasionally they hand a pile off to crash repairers if the repairers approach them...

In my case I fitted my bar myself and just tossed the bumper - they are almost impossible to move on..

Yeah I've seen a number of them for sale on gumtree for $100-$500 and they seem to be the same ones every time.

I gave mine away last week for the cost of a case of beer, no scratches and had lights fitted. I was just happy not to see it go to waste

I was offered the return of my original bumper by ARB in Osborne Park, and told them to dispose of it. :D

I did keep the original bumper from my D2 though when I had a bar fitted ........... which has recently turned out well for someone in Adelaide who needed one. ;)

I kept the original bumper off the Deafener when the bulbar was fitted thinking I could flog it off.
Doesn't appear to be a market for that sort of stuff so out to the bulk rubbish collection it will go cut into small bits so those that think they'll get something for nothing won't take it. :D
I did that with a roof rack once just to spite the cheap skate who said "I can only afford $xxx is that enough" ..... about a third of the price it was worth.:o
Gawd I'm a bad tempered old git.

There is a market for them. I've sold both of mine for $100 each and should move a third one this weekend.

I'm after 2013 HSE white bumper, I had mine banged up a little last year,
Willing to pay $$$, or cartoons, ( mine has LAND ROVER on bonnet )
I'm getting sick of looking at its scars

I'm located Perth WA.

And yes the property is yours, but I would of asked the company when I dropped it off, we depose of a tons of waste, I would be grateful if they took their old parts and away, would save us a lot of money in disposal fees ( we are a Kenworth Truck dealer ) we empty a few large skip bins every couple of weeks.

Thanks Jack

Alan, you should instead be happy it gets reused.. there is just no sense wasting something just in spite.

I've sold headlights on eBay for $1 which cost me more in time and energy to post because just putting things in the bin is too wasteful.

I am guilty of leaving my bumper at ARB too. Tried putting it up in the giveaway thread but had no takers. Shame really, they're probably worth thousands.

Must admit I would expect that they would leave any functional parts they removed in the vehicle when they finished. I had the same experience when I had a turbo fitted to my 110. They chopped up the original exhaust system and threw it in the scrap bin when they fitted the new 2.5" system. :(

I have mine, MY16.5 SE bumper with the driving lights in. The installer gave it back to me, I was going to make something out of it, get a grille and mount them on the wall in shed to make a bar.

But I'm happy to sell it now if anyone is interested, seen as there is a market for them.

Not worth me advertising it though.
