Hi All,
My wifes 2008 TDV8 sport is in need of some love, one of the front hubs/set of bearings is on its way out, ive been told doing the whole hub is the only option, it is also in need of lower control arm bushes, again ive been told do the whole arm?

Now looking around for part numbers i was supprised to find the TDV8 has different parts to the other models, can anyone tell me why this is? It does have the brembo brake upgrade but i wouldnt have thought this would make a difference to the hubs? Are they interchangeable?

At the moment i have found parts locally of a decent brand but apparently not suited to a TDV8, and the other parts ive sourced elsewhere are All makes brand and alot higher price, not keen to pay premium for a brand i have had nothing but issues with in the past. Can anyone recommend a good parts supplier for these?

Hi,
I have A TDV8 RRS.

The front bushes have been replaced on mine. I know this because they have not been pushed in 100% of the way...so they can be replaced. Unforetunetly I cannot hep with where they came from as this was done prior to my purchase a year ago.

A few months ago I replaced the N/S/F Wheel bearing. Time poor required I purchased a bearing from All4x4 in Newcastle. A complete assembly hub and bearing. Simple job too do.

The RRSport.co.uk have information on this....if memory serves me correctly they state that replacing just the bearings is a nightmare/impossible to do. Maybe worth a search on their.

Strange for this to come up today as I think I had to replace the O/S/F bearing and was just looking around for prices and options!

Hope this helps,
Chilly

According to Microcat, the bearing assembly is the same one used on all D3s, D4s and all L320 RRS. The part number has been superseded several times but none specific to the TDV8 RRS. The 3.6's LCAs however are different.

Thanks for the info, Chilly, i found a few places had the hub for $250 - one being TR spares in sydney but they are all makes branded, I've been told by a landy mechanic i know to stick to the timken branded one, best price ive found so far is 4wd industries - 4wdIndustries - Land Rover Discovery 3 & 4 Front Hub & Wheel Bearing Range Rover Sport Timkin | 4wd Industries - Selling New and Used Vehicles, Genuine and High Quality Aftermarket parts In Maitland and around Australia (http://4wdindustries.com.au/axle-driveline-diff/bearings/land-rover-discovery-3-4-front-hub-wheel-bearing-range-rover-sport-timkin.html)
If you find any better prices please let me know.

Graeme, do you know what the difference in control arms is? i have a few part no's
LR014147 - Hub that according to TR spares doesnt fit a tdv8??
LR076692 - Hub to suit tdv8??

LR029302 - RH control arm for tdv8 according to supplier but have also found LR029303 which is to suit tdv8?? then there is LR029301 which might be non tdv8? ive also found other variants too.

LR029305 - LH control arm for tdv8 again there is LR029306
There seems to be a LR029305 G and GK variant of these on Craddocks website as well, are these kits including bolts etc?

LR029305 - LH Arm Front Suspension 3.6V8 Diesel with 35mm Ball Joint (http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/range-rover/range-rover-sport-2005-2009/parts/suspension/lr029305-lh-arm-front-suspension-3-6v8-diesel-with-35mm-ball-joint.html)

Way to many parts for the same thing, are they interchangeable at all? the only difference i have noticed is some specify a 35mm ball joint?

LR014147 has been superseded twice with LR076692 the most recent part number with all applicable to all L319 & L320 models. LR014147 was not the original part number either.

Whilst LCAs from other L319/L320 will bolt-up, the TDV8 was different for a reason which might not become evident until you start driving on twisty roads where the steering might not feel quite the same. They might be heavier duty too. People have fitted later D3 LCAs to D4s because the supplier has stated they will fit which they do but the ball joint angle was changed for the D4 to lower the roll centre. 303 & 305 were the current 3.6 numbers in the late 2012 version of Microcat.
